Default 05 vs 07 350z?

Alright I read up and did all my research about the differences of these two cars, like the new engine, better hp etc. But I'd rather hear what difference the driver feels.

So is there anyone whos actually driven both models? Can you feel any REAL significant difference with the new improvements? Thanks

This is basically the best way to go about this. Asking other people is pointless.

I have driven both the VQ35DE and VQ35HR motors. The VQ35DE motor feels faster.

I traded my DE in on a HR. And yes, I felt a difference in acceleration as soon as I took the HR on a test drive.

HR has 0 problems, more horsepower (albeit slightly less torque), dual throttle body etc.

the only problem with the 07 350Z was the recall on the slave cylinder.

I have only drove an '06 Z and 07' Z and the 07 was faster, i haven't driven a DE

obviously, the DE is a better performer if you're looking for less performance.

i owned a 2004 roadster and traded in for a 2007 enthusiast. i love the new HR motor. you'll find a lot more aftermarket accessories and engine components for the DE as its been around a lot longer than the HR series.
but the HR fixed the airflow issue and overall a better block to build on imo. with a few breather mods and a tune i'm pushin close to 295 whp... on my roadster - virtually same setup i was pushing about 265

either way you go - its still a 350z and both have timeless looks and flawless lines.

i like the 07 for the newer style headlights, led tail lights and stock rims looks better as well.

I've got a 03...bought new.I've driven the HR Z'S.I still prefer my DE...seems to have more low end power/torque.With my mods:JWT POP.Berk Z tube,Nismo cat back,and recently,Motordyne spacer...my DE is all I could want...completely satisfied.
In addition, have driven the 370's.Overall,there are many improvements on the quality,
quieter cabin, interior finish.I've had to get used to the styling. The NISMO model is
very well done.

For a daily driven car both will sufice, the de will have a lower cost(obvious, but i meant overall, including maintanance). There is more options for the de in the aftermarket if you plan on modding the car(until recently the hr only had a greddy turbo option, now gtm offers a supercharger). That being said, the Hr is a overall winner in my book, slighty more power, better interior, better exterior(bi-xenon lights, led tails, 18inch wheels, etc, etc). If you are deciding between the two, the Hr, if you are looking for power and have money, de and mod it.
I, myself own a rev-up so my opinion is not biased.

I have driven a 2003 DE and own a 2008 HR. Like alot of people said the DE does feel faster simply because of the better torque numbers. But if you plan on doing any mods such as FI the HR is the way to go. it has much stronger internals and will tolerate up to 500RWHP easily and the DE will not. IMO the HR is a much better designed engine....Just my.02 cents

On the track Stock qtr miles are faster on the HR. With the 7500 rev limit you only shift twice. If this helps.

Not sure we can tell you our own preferences seeing as how most of us only have 1 or the other... I do have the 05 though and have had it since 08 and love every bit of it! Never driven the HR engine so can't comment on how much more power it gives you, but from what a colleague of mine said (he owns 06 and drove an 08), he couldn't feel much difference, if any at all.

I previously owned an '05 Touring 6MT. Yes the torque is there, but it would always seem to loose power around 6000 RPM's. I now own an '08 HR and LOVE the power gains at higher RPM ranges. When a DE shifts I'm still going. :0

I've tuned mine to 292HP N/A with bolt on mods and overall I like it A LOT better than my '05 DE. The interior, dual throttle body, and light upgrades were just a plus.

Hi,

I spent two months looking for a Z and test drove about 10 of them.....If you ask me that's what you should do.

I ended with the one with lower miles I was able to find around. (hint HR)

Good luck on your search.

Useless post I know
