Actually never, I didn't want my mom to lose her home if I was ever at fault in an accident and the other party decided to sue above the limits of the policy. I've had my own policy since I was 17.

This is my ultimate fear.
Wrecking my Z and having to pay for it as it sits in my driveway.

OP. Your best bet might be to just part the Z out.
7500 is a lot of money for some of us.

+1 on 20 year olds driving Z's.
Do you guys ever get hated on for being young with nice cars?

Lots to comment on. My parents paid my insurance as long as I had an A average from 16 to 18 at 18 I was on my own.

I had a 72 Challenger, was arrested on the 405 (before carmageddon) going 120, I was allowed to choose between moving out of their house ( I was 17) or selling the 440 magnum with a six pack that was balanced bored blueprinted and I spent over a year building and BUYING Mom's 76 B210 Datsun hatchback. I took the having a place to live option and made the best with a hatchback that I could park on makeout lane and do things I'd have been very uncomfortable in the Challenger in.

Make lemonaid I always say!

I had Nitto 555s they sucked in the wet.

That's a great lesson.

As soon as I bought my own car, I paid my own insurance. Part of it may be a perceived (not necessarily real) whiny tone in the "My Mom only had liability insurance on the car..." statement.

Most ANY car loan is insane. Borrowing to buy something that depreciates as quickly as a car, is really a bad idea in almost all cases.

hahaha, more than ever. Women my age, "damn i love your car wanna take me for a ride in it" (easy date, constant head turns and stares, everyone looks when they pull up and i have to top down . Soccer moms and and any older men, and police, "look another punk kid whos parents bought him a nice car to go and wreck it" (I say this because kids were i live are spoiled punks that wreck and brand new mustang doing 130mph and his parents bought him another one. My high school car lot had everything from a BMW to a brand new Lotus Elise)

As already mentioned, if you have that fear then get full coverage. If you have a loan on the car, assume the bank would require that to begin with.
As far as the guy with a 20% loan for a sports car, WTF!

One thing I'm in college so that's why she pays for my insurance and honestly my dad pays for the for seperation reasons. I bought the 350z and my 94 TT 300zx she don't buy my cars or my car parts she paid the insurance cause since I was 16 I paid my own bills all she Neva did was insurance she hasnt bought me a car since my first one and I have had about 8. The main reason I don't have to pay it is cuz I'm in school and she do it so I won't be like everyone else selling a Z for tuition or books. Plus it mainly come from my dad.
