Forget the e-brake, coasted into a parked car
I'm an idiot. A friend caught me in the parking lot before I drove off to lunch and I decided to go with him instead. I had just started my car so it was out of gear. Since I was about to take off, the e-brake was off, as well. I just jumped out, locked the doors, and got into my friend's car. I get a call 15 minutes later that my car is in the back of another car in the lot. Fortunately the other car was a Jeep and my lowered Z just slipped right under the rear bumper causing no damage to his car. Mine, however, has a flexed right fender, broken clips on the bumper, caved hood near the head lamp, and hopefully nothing really structural with such a slow speed collision.
Question: Is it worse to tell the insurance company that it was my neglegence with the e-brake or should I claim it was hit in a parking lot (without security cameras, of course) while I shopped? I really dislike the idea of being dishonest but insurance companies have a way of screwing their paying customers over by way of technicalities. I'm fully covered, though, so this thing will cost me five hundred bones, regardless, plus whatever they decide I should have to pay them in future rates.

As above. Just tell the truth. No sense going to jail for insurance fraud and having a felony on your record because you're embarassed that you forgot to pull the e-brake or because you want to cover up the truth to help you out financially.
Integrity - unfortunately is becoming a lost art form instead of a trait that is inherent in every person.

Umm, looking at the picture of the damage, only a retard for an adjuster would believe your car was hit while parked.
But go on ahead and commit fraud. Hope you get caught.
Or be a responsible adult and admit you screwed up.

I think a big (not entirely) part of integrity is usually taught. Telling the truth is generally ingrained by parents, teachers, preachers, religious figures, occasional tv show etc... It's also stressed in some cultures while sometimes none existent in others.
Karma dude, I believe in it because i'm a retard I guess. What goes around comes around. If you are honest and you believe you are a good person, good things will happen to you. Also, aside from that, depending on your insurance, your rates might not even change(first offense(accident),accident forgiveness, etc, etc).
lol, just tell them it rolled into another vehicle. Make sure you tell them that you were not behind the wheel when it rolled away as you stated in your post. That may or may not sway them into a comprehensive claim rather than collision.
wow, OP is dumb. lol.
how about this, how about instead of paying your deductible which probably matches the amount for it to cost to fix anyways, just pay out of pocket. you will win both ways.

I have a friend who's cars e-brake actually just let go one day. Unfortunately for him he lives on a busy street and his car got smashed by a passing car lol (black car at night). He made an insurance claim telling them exactly that and they fixed the whole thing - the deductible of course.
Just tell them the car rolled away, and you don't know why.

Lol, you guys kill me. I've never encountered so many good people, albeit, with good and valid points. Message received.
Good to know there's some honesty left in the world, which I intend to keep company with.
