Just tell them the car rolled away, and you don't know why.
Really? It's funny how so many people dog out the kids in sports cars for being the cause of rising insurance rates. In actuality it's dishonest pukes that do more damage.

LOL just answer the posts topic, why go off...he will decide what his life path says to do. Maybe the jeep doesn't want to be mentioned, maybe it was set up for a new hood who knows, but soooo much judgement here not needed.

i did this once with a mazda3, had the ebrake up but just not all the way, i was waiting in line at the post office when people where chattering, i looked out the window and saw my brand new ride (470miles on ODO) going on its own journey without me

came out with just a bumper replacement, and paid out of pocket, life lesson

...Hear hear.

And it is probably far too late to get any real answers in this thread but what the hell.

I spoke to the Jeep owner and he said there is nothing wrong with his car and has no interest in going any further. That being the case, I will be totally honest with the insurance company but will they want to check out the Jeep anyway? Also, since this happened on gated, secured company grounds, the security team has a full report to back up the time frame, location, etc.. I'm not going to mess around with digging myself into legal troubles. I really just wanted to know how all this insurance stuff was going to turn out before I call them. Information is good to have.

All that matters to the insurance company is that you're filing a claim. It doesn't matter that you caused it through negligence or it was an accident or caused by somebody else. The bottom line is that you're claiming it.

I may be wrong, but that damage doesn't seem too bad to me. If I were you, I wouldn't even go thru insurance. If you have some funds, get an estimate and try to fix it yourself I say.

P.S. Definitely don't lie to insurance, morality aside, if u look at risk to reward, isn't worth it at all

No assistance in an act of fraud was provided.

I told the op to tell his insurance company that his car rolled into another car, is that not what happened?

Perhaps you paired my first post directed towards the op together with my second post directed towards the saints we're blessed with on this site and came to that assumption.

+1 to all the posts before. It doesn't look too bad, but everyone makes mistakes sometimes. Atleast you know next time to pull up the e-brake or just keep it in first gear when you park, but as a precaution I put it in first gear and pull the e-brake to make sure. Good luck.

I'm fully covered, though, so this thing will cost me five hundred bones, regardless, plus whatever they decide I should have to pay them in future rates.
Tell the truth of course. Members, including myself, have had their "stupid" moments.

Yes, so much fail. Tell me about it. I take care of this car and I'm a responsible person. Major suckage.
Guesstimate the damage then multiply by 3. That's what it will cost to fix the car properly.
