Default Radar Detector vs Jammer?

I am considering a radar detector or a jammer. I would love to drive faster but can't afford a ticket. I do not want to spend over 400 on a hard wired system but I would like to know what other Z owners have and/or do. Thanks!

I don't believe a jammer can be had for under $400 and thats the only thing thats gunna do it right. I feel like radar detectors are hit or miss....I trust mine about 40%...ahah
You still gotta drive kinda cautious and know the right places....do some searching around I am sure there is plenty of reviews on this sort of stuff.

Jammer's are waaayyyy more than that... this is one of the better one's:

laser-interceptorusa.com

I personally have a V1 Valentine and swear by it. I have it mounted with a Blendmount behind my rear view mirror so it's out of sight. I'd be very careful with a Jammer/Interceptor because in some states they're illegal or in the gray area. You need to carry a FCC license to "jam" the frequency band regardless of what it is.

^ drunk posting again wooo!

uhmm, you can buy whatever you want. in the end, radars + jammers can only do so much. you need to drive smart.

not many suggestions here if your budget is that low.

Jammer is illegal in most, if not all states. Plus, it's not hard to be caught with one. If you're the only one going down the road and the cop's laser can't get a signal off you, it's pretty much a dead giveaway.

If you're concerned about the price of a speeding ticket, then you're driving the wrong type of car.

A radar jammer is illegal the USA because the FCC forbids civilians from transmitting in a police frequency band. That doesn't mean there are no companies that make radar jammers, but they are also forbid from advertising. Transmitting high power RF to jam a radar gun is tricky and still doesn't work all the time since the frequency band cops use is narrow and the jammer must be calibrated often. It's not worth the time or money, especially since there are radar detectors out there that can pick up signals from far away enough for you to slow down.

If you were talking about a Laser Jammer, they use UV LEDs that transmit light and jam the laser receiver. Good ones are the ZR4 shifter and the Blinder. Laser jammers are illegal in the following states:

Nebraska, Minnesota, Utah, California, Oklahoma, Virginia, Colorado, Illinois and Washington DC.

Otherwise you are free to use it. Be warned that the laser gun will throw an error code and the cop may find another reason to pull you over, and in some states they can pull you over by noticing you going visibly faster than the posted speed limit. Some loopholes are bigger than others and every state is different.

You can bet the penalties for using a Jammer way exceed those of a speeding ticket.

Federal penalty of up to $10K and 2 years in prison.

We would all love to drive faster, but the speed limit is there for a reason.

If you're caught with a jammer, you will be in big trouble. You could get pulled over for a tail light out and if the cop spots your jammer you're boned.

I've driven through TN a number of times travelling between Louisville and Atlanta. The highway patrol hides in trees and hits you with radar all the time. I don't remember my detector showing laser at any time, but my detector went nuts every time I passed a well treed corner. Needless to say, I only went 10 over the posted limit.

I've lived in a lot of areas and I've never seen any greater aggression against speeders than TN. Get a good detector and you'll be good. Be ready to pull that down and hide it when you are pulled over though.

When I left Nebraska in the 90s, they didn't make the anti-radar detector law publicly known, but they'd confiscate it and issue you a $50 fine.
