I have a V1 in my Z and my wife has my old passport 9500i. Personally, I love the V1 because it gives direction, however, the 9500i can discern the BS signals and you can block them, or if you travel long distance, and you always see a speed trap area, then you can program that area in it and with the GPS, it will tell you "Speed trap, 2500m ahead" and so on. It's an awesome little detector. Probably going to be getting it back from her and giving her the V1.

The only nice thing about the V1 that I like, is that it tells you WHERE the signal is coming from. I used to always get random alerts and every so often it would go in and out, so I thought the cop was behind me, but I never knew. With the V1, I know it's behind me, so I just mute it

personally, i have the escort 9500ix. i have picked up a few cops with it in the month i have had it but the one thing that freaked me out a bit was i passed a speed trap and i didn't pick it up, even tho i saw the cop standing behind his tripod (probably laser radar which the 9500ix doesn't pickup)

one thing you have to be aware of is that depending on the streets you drive on a regular or even every now and then, the detector WILL be triggered by store security systems, you know the things for shoplifters.. and you will also pickup intersection camera's if they use them to determine the flow of traffic. so even though it's going off that doesn't mean it's a P.O.S ha.

i don't know if the prices in canada are any different then the USA but, the 9500ix was $700, and to get a jammer meant for laser radar, minimum $1500 with a $600 install charge on top of that.

i would recommend that if anything get a detector, if your not rippen the roads at 200+mph there's no sense in spending tone's of cash, but if you want to save yourself a few hundred bucks and some points on your license, the detector will give you plenty of time to slow down, it will buzz and scream and you'll get paranoid before you get pulled ha.

jammers don't work like how you guys think. A good jammer will only scramble the signal momentarily, just long enough so that you can slow down. Not like the cheap or older ones where it scrambles the shat out of the signal and be obvious enough for you to get busted.

^huh...that's cool! I guess it detects the radar/lazer and has an automatic timer on it? That's really quite clever.

Even if you could find/build a radar jammer, don't waste your money. One, they are illegal and two, they don't work. I know several folks with laser scramblers and they DO work. However, one guy in our club who has one says he got pulled over anyway and got a ticket for illegal tint - they will always find something I suppose...but better than a speeding ticket.
