Default Fraud in the 350z marketplace

Alright guys, im letting everyone know i almost got scammed by some random member from the NorthwestNissan.com forums under username (ateam, littleceasars)

this is how it all started, I posted a WTB post on my350z.com. I was looking to buy a set of 19' LMGT-4 wheels. this guy (Richard Voorees) started texting me saying that he had them for sale and told me his whole story of why he was getting rid of them. he even sent me pictures of the wheels with his name and date. I though the price was good considering the fact that they were in good condition. anyways i told him that i only do paypal transactions and he told me that his bank for some reason did not accept paypal deposits which sounded weird buy anyways i told him to send me the number to his bank and i ended up calling them and they confirmed that they did accept paypal transaction. i havent been able to find the name of the bank he told me nor the number he had given me(stupid of me). So last resort was to send the money via Western Union (which came as a big red flag). i told him that the only way i would send him western union was if he sent me tracking number for the wheels. so he agreed. i sent only the amount to cover for shipping costs and i told him i would send him the remainder of the balance once i received the wheels. he agreed to that. so when i went to western union i had the service lady put in the notes to release the funds only when the receiver has provided 2 valid tracking numbers for the packages he was sending out. So i called the Western Union office he was going to, to recieve the funds and told them if they can verify the tracking # for me or if they can give me a call once he was providing the number. I didnt think they would call me but they did. once the guy had arrived to pick up the money, the cashier from the Western Union in Clearlake CA gave me the number over the phone until i could verify it and when i found out that it was not a valid tracking # i told the cashier to not release the money and he didnt. He told the guy that there was a problem with computer and was extra slow, so the guy walked out and never came back to the store. They guy has not texted me since nor has he responded to any of my calls. Obviously it was a scam.

anyways just thought i throw this on here for those that are posting WTB threads on here.

here is the info i got from the guy who tried to scam me:

I'm glad you were able to thwart his scamming attempt.

Does he have an account on this forum? if so he will be removed..

Well played 350niZmo!

To those that do business on the marketplace, this is how you protect yourself when things start to seem strange.

This, Paypal has saved me once already from a scam, so I do most if not all of my online buying through them

I just bought some stuff from 350niZmo and was also strongly considering buying his Brembo's in the marketplace but I had other things that took priority. All I can say is that 350niZmo is legit (no ghey). I bought a my350 sticker and after seeing all the damaged shipping threads lately I was curious to see how this would arrive. He did a great job by protecting it with a file folder and it was delivered all banged up on the outside (thanks USPS) but the sticker was perfect inside. Just giving him some props and if someone is thinking of buying his bbk don't have any doubts what so ever as it will be exactly what he says

Our Marketplace is ripe with potential thieves. Try as you may scoundrels are next to impossible to avoid . I have sold several items to regional members face to face. If you are NOT standing in front of me with cash in your hand - no deal.

Buyer Seller beware.

It's the same on Ebay! I sold 12 items in the last 3 weeks. All shipped out priority mail. Out of those 12, I received one feedback!...

People these days! As long as they get their goods as described they don't care about telling other's how you are a reputable seller anymore!

I have never sold anything on ebay but I have always left feedback when buying. It's the moral of having respect for others and just plain common courtesy.

I had an incident on ebay back in April where I thought I was getting an oem 350Z car cover. Well the guy shipped it later then he said, then I ended up getting a generic cover in place of it. Told ebay and got my money back. The guy's last 6 of 7 buyers were scammed as well. I was the second. His account was soon terminated.

Next step will be to have the video from the Radio Shack the guy tried to get the money from siezed and identify who this "Richard Voorees" really is...i hope i can send this low-life to jail....

I dont think he has an account here in on my350z.com .....but i have been contacting members from NorthwestNissans.com and lm seeing that there is alot of fraud going on over there and Mods have not taken any action on their parts....

anyways...im glad to be a part of these forums and hope that everyone is careful when it comes to being contacted by these people....

ill keep everyone posted as to what happens next....
