One of my girl friends asked me to pick her up since in her words "We could ride with the top down and it's so nice out" (I don't have a vert mind you) I was like "The Z is a hardtop" needless to say she was quite embarrassed lol

Some others were "Dude you should get headers, intake, and exhaust asap"
Me, "No man I think it is plenty fast the way it is...."
Guy, "You have no idea what you are talking about man you get like another 50hp from those mods"

Some responses:

"Ohhh I thought it was a Porsche"

"It doesn't have backseats?"

"It's rear wheel drive?"

Before I debadged my car a girl who only hung around with guys in th e Euro scene told me I had a nice Maxima...

An old guy at a gas station asked if it was the new prosche....

I was told my a Canadian to "take the governor out, eh"....

When I'm parked airred out and almost anyone that see's it tries to warn me that my rear wheels are broken. When I tell them they're not broken that keep asking why are they like that.

This isn't a dumb question but i feel like more people who know nothing about cars ask me this more than people that do "How many horsepowers does it have?".... majority of time the people that ask this don't know the difference between HP and WHP or even torque mind you :|

I can understand the Porsche comment because that happens all the time. But the Maxima comment that girl was trying to be a smart ***.

Just tell people crank HP. That's what people who don't know about cars go by

Since I am a new Z owner, I never thought this would have happen to me, but it did...and at Partsource.

First of all, I just want to say how shocked I am about how little the guys at Partsource know. So I went to partsource to return a set of brake pads that one of the kids at partsource sold to me because they were the wrong ones (after I asked him "are you SURE these are the right ones?") and there was another dumbass and this is the conversation I had with him (the salesperson). He was trying to size me up:

Me: "Hey I am looking for rear and front brake pads for a 2006 350z"
Him: "Are you selling?"
Me: ".......I'm.....buying?"
Him: **Gives me a raised eyebrow**
Me: "You mean... the car? .... I just bought it....."
Him: "What year?"
Me: "2006.."
Him: "How much?"
Me: "12 grande, got it cheaper because it was in an accident" (I'm in Toronto, btw)
Him: "They come for less, you know"
Me: "Not the 06's"
Him: "Should have gotten the 04, they're cheaper"

lllllllllllllllllol at this point, I was like is he genuinely a dumbass or .... then the convo proceeded:

Me: "Have you driven the older 350z? It's very Spartan"

blah blah blah. Then he can't find the pads to fit my car so I say:

Me: "Wow, this car is hard to shop for"
Him: "Bet you wish you got the 04 now don't you!?"

llllllllllllllllllllol. I started dying again.

Me: "Ugh...it's the same car"
Him: ".....so you gonna drive it in the winter?"
Me: "Yes, I am not yet rich enough to afford two cars. Just going to get proper winter tires."
Him: **Gives me a coy smile** "That's what real men do"

Lol, I wasn't offended because clearly this guy was a big idiot, so I laughed. Got my refund and left.

Must be a "you are too young" mentality...
Also why would you EVER trust any salesperson from a auto store?

I know several guys that work at auto stores and even they know that more that 80% of the employees are dumber than a sack of rocks.

I always know what Part# I need to get before I even leave for the store. My convo with them always goes something like this:

me: "Hi, I need this part#..."
them: "err, ok...*goes to search*, hey is that your Z?"
me: "yes it is" *hands money* " K, bye"

LOL

@Jah70, lol yes it is. But Canadian Tire owns it. Hardcore Canadian lol

I had another interesting experience. But this one was more of a dumb answer rather than a question:

Him: "Hello, this is Scarborough Nissan, how can I help you?"
Me: "Hi I'm looking for brake pads for an 06 350z. Do you supply semi-metallic compounds?"
Him: "Our dealership only provides what Nissan produces, which is one type of pad"
Me: "What type of pad is it?"
Him: "I don't know"
Me: "You don't know?..."
Him: *Chuckles* "I am not an engineer, I don't know"

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL. If the Nissan parts technician doesn't know..... then whotf does. I was about to tell him it's written on the box but I decided he can't tell his right hand from his left. I got the price and hung up.

2 girls were in the passenger seat of mine, when the one on top asks, "Is it a manual?"
Like don't you see me shifting right now?

Yesterday I was at a gas station getting smokes and when I came out a guy asked me "hey did you remove the door panels because they rattled? I said, "um no, I removed them because I have a full 6 point roll cage and the door panels would be in the way of my door bars". He said oh wow, I didn't even realize that it had a roll cage in it".............dumb@ss lmao

I am 24 but I look younger I guess?

Pumping gas, guy and his wife pull up in a jeep;

"Nice car"
me:"Thanks"
"you just wash it?"
"Yea full detail"
"did your dad pay for it?"
"...... No."
his wife proceeds telling him something.

I was so tempted to say something along the lines about his wife paying for it, instead I smiled and said;

"no my mom paid for this one, my dad paid for the lambo"

That got him pretty good lol.

Went with the wife car shopping the other day and I drove the z. We pulled up to the dealership and got out started looking at a few cars when the salesman greeted us. He said I had a nice car and ask what all I had done to it. I told him that I had supercharged it and added a few more bolt-ons. He ask if I had to get custom headers and downpipe made. So I replied "no it's a supercharger". Then he proceeded to tell me that superchargers and turbos were the same and the only difference was that's turbos just used the exhaust where the supercharger had to use the exhaust and a belt to drive it. He also said that I should've bought an frs because with just a tune they can make 450-500 hp!
This was the biggest WTF moment ever!
This is what happens when a ricer gets a job selling cars!
