I originally bought my Z with the thought I'd use it in the snow. But recently I decided F that. I just don't want my Z and salt to be mixing if they don't have to. My car has over 100K miles and I don't want it go through more than it has to

I just bought a 91 Jeep Cherokee that has part-time AWD with 109,000 miles for $1,200 last year and pay 60$ a month for insurance.. I'd say that's the best way to go.. my Z doesn't really move in the winter.

Like the others said, four Blizzaks and self car washes. I did the same with my 300ZX. Both cars were fine. It's my only car and I have to drive an hour each way five days a week for work. Never missed a day for snow.

Just drive at a speed suitable for the conditions...same as with any car. Honestly, the most common vehicle I see in solo accidents in the snow are four wheel drive SUVs. If I had to guess, I think they forget that four wheel drive doesn't change their handling or braking abilities.

I have definitely driven worse cars in the snow. I'll be doing my fourth winter in my Nismo shortly. Use good snow tires. If you're like me and have more time than money, purchase them already mounted on a second set of rims. I've changed all four in the garage on the night of the first major snowstorm.

My Z is an 03 with over 12XXXX miles on it. I moved up from Dallas to Chicago a year ago and experienced my first winter driving in my Z (or in any car for extended period of time). I bought snow tires ( stetched.. 225 on 8.5" and 235 on 9.5") and even went autocrossing on a frozen lake. Winter driving in the Z can be done if you're careful. My Z's pretty low and it does have a hard time navigating through less-used roads because it has to plow through the snow at the same time, but it's not too bad.

Snow tires, ice scraper for the windows, and spray carwashes...

Some of us don't have the space for another car -- of any kind.

Because that $500 POS turns into a bigger headache as they break down, need their own tires, maintenance, insurance, etc.

Plus, you guys make it look like the Z is some high-end car. Who cares if it sees snow/rain? I love my car as much as any of the members here and I've probably had it longer than many of you and put more miles on the Z than most of you, but I still treat it as a car that I bought to drive.

This is a good thread. I don't have a Z yet but I plan on getting one to replace my turbo RSX within in the next few months. I drive my RSX in the snow with 305whp and no snow tires. I am sure that a rwd car with snow tires should be doable especially since it has traction and stability control, the RSX has none of that. As for having a beater car not everyone can do that. I have to park on the street and its hard enough finding parking for one car imagine finding parking for 2 when there's huge a$$ snow banks and parking bans all around.

OP I say good luck and I hope snow driving works out for you because I will be in the same boat this winter.

umm..rsx=fwd= weight over your front tires...z=rwd and no weight over the rear tires..come on man..

also as far as parking 2 cars on the street..if u had a beater then the z would come off the road and into storage somewhere not just sit on the street that would be retarded and makes me think ur not too smart if thats what u were even thinking..z off the road and into storage still leaves parking for the beater.

Actually I am very smart I have a BS degree to prove it. For people with a house yes your plan would work just fine. But if you have no drive way or garage to put the car what are you supposed to do?

I am not saying that driving a z in the winter is the best idea but I see plenty of G35's and mustangs. As long as you are smart, use snow tires and don't drive like an *** then I really cant see the problem.

Now if I come back to this tread and say I wrapped my car around a pole this winter then I admit I was a bit naive and buy you a beer.
