Snow and Z's.
Actually I am very smart I have a BS degree to prove it. For people with a house yes your plan would work just fine. But if you have no drive way or garage to put the car what are you supposed to do?
I am not saying that driving a z in the winter is the best idea but I see plenty of G35's and mustangs. As long as you are smart, use snow tires and don't drive like an *** then I really cant see the problem.
Now if I come back to this tread and say I wrapped my car around a pole this winter then I admit I was a bit naive and buy you a beer.

there are plenty of car storage places my man..just cause u dont have a garage doesnt mean it cant be stored...Even shops on here like r/t tuning for example store cars for the winter..Many many places do..Do what u wish but just cause there isnt parking for 2 cars on the street isnt a good answer when there are many other choices..even a car cover in the backyard would do..All im saying is what someone can buy a good set of winter tires they could buy a beater and it is a much smarter route.
I will admit I didn't know performance shops stored cars for the winter. Do you know how much it cost? If it cost less than a nice set of snow tires then I would consider it. Especially since my insurance goes down if I get a second car.

I'll stick to driving (and racing) on snow tires in my Z, thanks.

but kind of sketchy how they fade the picture from the initial pull out to the end result (zoomed in none-the-less) without seeing the actual pull out of the SUV.
My father has a set of thin steel grates that go underneath the tires of a vehicle stuck in the snow. Same concept.
Storing your car also costs money, so you're not even looking at the entire picture. You also haven't addressed the fact that $500 POS will require much more than the initial $500 with its own BS problems. What you're saying is your opinion and your opinion only. For many of us, we don't have the same options, same budget, same _______, etc as you. You're implying that the rest of us are stupid by saying "much smarter route," but I see it as the opposite as it's clear you're not looking at the issue from all perspectives and are only taking into consideration your experiences. Plus, it sounds like you might just suck at winter driving in a RWD.

Well put my friend. You have given me hope for driving a z in the winter. A co-worker and I have the same debate about him getting a beater or driving his 03 M3 in the winter.

Everyone's situation is different though, I'm lucky enough to have driveway parking for the Z and I keep the jeep in the street but I live in an apartment and if I didn't have room for both cars there would be no "put a cover on it and leave it in the backyard" option for me, and to own 2 cars and store one would be a waste of money so I would have to just get snow tires and call it a day...
