Default Tailgaters in Rear View Mirror Appear Close?

Does anyone else think that the rear view mirror makes it look like everyone is tailgating the crap out of you, but when I look out the drivers side mirror they don't look so close? I guess part of it is how short the cars rear end is, I think it may be deceiving.

I thought everyone was tailgating me for weeks until I really started looking at the mirror differences the other day.

Although on that note there are plenty of real tailgaters which I never used to have with my 4wd truck, I think people are either jealous of this car or don't respect it; anyone else notice this?

I think it's the user's perception of time travel that appears to offset the centrifugal appearance.

Don't worry about it. Theyre just hungry for rock chips.

Change out to TP & large pipes and they won't tailgate anymore. If they try, they'll get drunk off the fumes and naturally slow down anyways.

You can also flick boogers on their windshield as a deterrent. ;-)

People, for the most part, just do not respect these cars. You would be amazed at how many non-enthusiasts/z owners think these are FWD 4 cylinder cars. Then you have evo fanboys, V8 truck drivers who drive like they can run over everyone, etc. There just isn't any respect out there for these cars. If you don't believe me, browse some forums that support all makes/models. The 350z is 1 of the most trash talked cars on them.

When people get too close, I slow down a couple MPH. If they don't back off, I speed up as many car lengths as I can go. If they come back I partially break check, if they do it again I give them a full break check.

I'm not saying that I did this, but I have this friend... you know... and one time, when a guy was being a jerk and nothing else worked, since his convertible top was down, he held up the loaded spare clip from his pistol until they realized, "What in the heck is he holding up? Oh...."

Well I gave it to 2 tailgaters over the last few weeks, but that is before I noticed the mirror issue, so not sure if they were as close as I thought, but both instances resulted in out of the car traffic light confrontations ready to throw blows.

The thing is the rear view mirror makes it look like a tailgater is like 1 foot away from your bumper and then the drivers side mirror looks more like three or four feet away from you; I can deal with someone tailgating as long as they are not 1 foot away which is why I got out of the car and went off at these 2 guys.

That said, yes I don't think these cars get any respect.

You know seriously thats not a bad idea, the noise would probably annoy people enough to stay off your tail.

I believe you, thats exactly how I read it too, the only cars that screw with me (other than tailgaters) are these 4cyl civics, hyundai's, whatever that seem to want to race or something and drive all weird around me.

When headlights disappear behind a lowered Z. You slam on the brakes. lol dont slam them, but give them a good pulse. I do it all the time. I give them a 2 min grace period to try to find a good rhythm, but if theyre riding my *** ill give em a bit of a scare.

Is someone is tailgating me, i just do the same thing i would expect someone to do if i was tailgating them. MOVE OVER

Also , loud exhaust helps. People don't seem to tailgate me, cause they can't hear their music or cell phone.

And when you are in traffic going flow of traffic, nowhere to move and they tailgate?

Better that brake checking people like many others have said. No matter what the case is, i'm not going to intentionally try cause an accident. If your going with the flow of traffic, you and the others should not be in the far left lane.
