What happens if you don't use premium gas?

i wouldnt run anything under the highest you can buy in your area it seems to me like the lower grade you go in gass the more likely it is to form deposits on everything in the combustion chamber and exhaust

If you purchased a Z and can't suck up the extra 3 dollars a fill the Premium will cost you then sell your car to someone who can and nicely ask your parents for a 4-cylinder and run the **** out of some 87 on that.

premium gas
fuel economy will diminish.. will have valve train problems, emission issues, carbon build up and as stated detonation that will or can destroy your motor..i have a Z that runs on 100 octane.. i must be very careful.. just speng the extra money now to prevent future problems..

No problems. Timing and AFR will adjust for the fuel, no worries.
In the very short term, yes. In the long term, No.
To detect the lower octane fuel, the engine must ping and backs off the timing. It will keep trying this periodically and you will accumulate detonations over time. This leads to, as others have said, carbon buildup, plug problems, valve leakage, etc.
If you use 87 all the time, it will eventually cost you more than just paying for 91+ fuel. Use the proper fuel and don't take the risk. If you stop at a place without 91+, then fill 87 until you can get 91 fuel.

if I ever were to run 87 in my celica gts the engine would sputter and knock. my buddy did this for a long period of time to save $$ . eventually had to sawp out the engine.
