Default Why do internet toughguys try to make fun of FI 350Z's?

The fact that I have come across some people who try to make fun of 350Z's with FI simply amazes me. I mean it's one thing to make fun of a ricer, or someone with some cheap bold-on's that do nothing, but to make fun of a well tuned Z with a serious FI setup doesn't make any sense to me.

It seems to come from the Mustang crowd a lot of the time. The worse thing is when they try to act like cars like the new Mustang and Camaro are somehow better handling cars. I know it's best to let the haters hate, but still, I just don't get what would motivate someone to say such crap.

It's not just FI Zs and not just on the internet. I've been outside of a bar where my car has been visible and a bunch of guys were talking crap about how awful and slow it was. I looked around the parking lot and the best car was about an 08 jeep patriot. There was a riced out sebring with lambo doors so it probably was that guy and his buddies.

Recent 5.0 GT's and older GT500's... 2004+ Cobra's with independent rear suspensions handle better too.

Comparing same year Z and Mustang (08 and back), Mustang does NOT handle better in a REAL LIFE situation due to the outdated solid rear axial (REVISED '11 is a different story) and anyone who says otherwise are just mustang "nut huggers" (am I using this right? )
For god sakes the stock 4.6L V8 only made 300 hp at the crank... we make more hp than that with 3.5L V6...

But then logic does not apply to muscle heads who think V8 automatically gives them better handling and more power than any other engines in the world...

Comparing regular Z with a cobra is a completely biased comparison. If you are going to compare a Z with a Cobra, compare it with Nismo. Which handles far superior than Cobra.

Edit: Even the brand new Mustang GT can't come close to the 370Z's handling (since you should only compare the cars equivalent to its production year...) Mustang has NEVER Surpassed the Z's handling (in same year/similar trim) and it never will (as long as they keep that solid rear.) Keep the mustangs for drag racing and highway pulls. You'll find the Z's at the track. Take your pick.

U mad bro? Look it up... A newer mustang 5.0 cost as much as a 370Z and does about 1.0 on a skid pad and regardless of the suspension technology... It still handles better case and point. The Mustangs have solid brakes and won't die like the 370's will because of heat soak(check last years addition of C&D). The 370 is an awesome all around car as is the 350 but when you have comparable balance in regards vehicle capabilities and the mustang comes with 400hp... Don't argue.

Car and driver does a decent comparison of an 07 350z enthusiast vs 07 mustang GT which would be comparable models due to their price point. The 350z does better on the skidpad and outbrakes the mustang albeit not by much.

Most Guys in the Cruse or collector Car circuit, appreciate any nice car & don't trash them except to say some likes or dis'likes .. Now & then you here cheap coments from someone wth some type of life issues in general ... Don't waste your time worring about that Peanut Gallery mentality, laugh it off and " Enjoy Your Ride " !!!!

People need to realise that a skidpad rating isn't the end all be all determination for a good handling car. There are about a billion more factors.

also the IRS in the cobra did not make it a well handling car, have you ever driven one wtf? Next your going to say the pontiac gto was a well handling car. Good god I don't understand where some of you guys come up with this stuff.

But yes the new mustang is a great handling car. So is the vette with those crappy archaic leafspring things.

Yup

I'm not arguing or mad. I was just stating the facts that are tested/written.

I don't know where you got your fact of "and does about 1.0 on a skid pad and regardless of the suspension technology... It still handles better case and point."

Edmunds says, and I quote "It's live rear axial become the obvious liability"

Edumunds: "If the 2010 Mustang proves a surprisingly capable handler, then the Z is nevertheless in another galaxy. You can see this in the way the 370Z grips harder on the skid pad at 0.94g to the Mustang's 0.91g, but the differences in capability are more prominently evidenced in the slalom. "

http://www.insideline.com/nissan/370...ssan-370z.html

Read an article that's be written by professionals. You can clearly see that 370Z handles better (in term of feel, and G number), and the rear axial is the ultimate downfall of mustang handling. Therefore, 370Z handles better than the mustang...

and if you didn't notice, I specified that the engine's displacement just in case you mix up the hp figure... but I guess you didn't read that part?
Fyi, the 4.6 engine (2005-2010) in the mustang made 300 hp, last year getting 15 more hp. What you are talking about (the 400hp one) is the 5.0 engine, brand new to 2011...

I'm not trying to argue. I just don't want people to be misinformed about a car they arn't familiar with by learning wrong things from people that knows nothing about that car in the first place.
If someone asks a question, I want them to hear a proven data. not something they heard from a car meet they were at last week.
