A couple friends of mine were at a car meet standing outside our cars talking when a 500hp Evo decides to try to do an AWD drift out of the parking lot. The car gets wayyyy more sideways than he must have planned because he snapped out of the throttle with the car pointed directly at my group when he finally got traction. He came about 10 feet from hitting us before somehow he he recovered it. The sight of an Evo with all four tires sending up smoke pointed right at me and knowing that behind me was my z scared the **** out of me.

About a month after getting my Z I had my close encounter.

I had purchased my Z knowing that it was going to need new rear tires. I got it registered and on the road and continued to put off investing the money into the tires.

The encounter happened on my way home from work one afternoon after some early morning rain. The rain had stopped, however the ground was still wet. I was making a turn onto a main road, with about 4 cars behind me. I make the turn into the center lane (mind you, I can't be going more than 15MPH), and hydroplane sending my car spinning completely out of control. The front of my car is sent spinning into the right lane as the rear of my car spins toward the median. I counter steer, however that just spins me out in the other direction, along with my stupid idea of braking which does me no good. While all this is happening there are cars behind me swerving to avoid hitting me. My car finally stops less than a foot from the median.

I probably wouldn't have had any serious injuries or anything, this was all happening at no more than 15MPH, however if someone would have hit me or I had hit the median, I'm sure my car would have took some serious damage.

Moral of the story: If you need new rear tires, get new rear tires.

I got new tires ASAP, and haven't had any issues since.

In 2007 (17yo) i was at an intersection leaving school in my 1994 ford explorer, the right lane had the option to go straight or take a right, i was going straight. i was also in the blind spot of a mercedes SL500 he missed his turn and not seeing me thought he could swerve to make the turn, took my front side out flipped and rolled me 3 times. airbags didnt deploy and ended up smashing my face on the steering wheel and breaking 3 ribs.

everyone says your first car crash is your worst... well this case it was, doesnt help that school was letting out so anyone who drove down that road saw me covered in blood

i've had two accidents after that and i still get nervous when i drive through that intersection

I hate hydroplane; it happened to me on the Acura TL and I slipped across two lanes while trying to wrestle the car; was a close one at 70MPH+

No, he was some old guy that stayed for the police admitted it was all his fault. it was my first accident and the adrenilane rush plus the fact that i didnt know what the F**K just happened kinda startled me and i didnt even know how to react, that's something they really need to start incorporating into drivers ed lol

I purchased my 350z in sept of 2010. After two weeks of enjoying my new ride, with many ideas running thru my head. I was at a red light first car at the light, than there was a Jetta behind me. Some bit** who was texting in her SUV came at over 40+ mph rear ending the Jetta. That caused the Jetta to rear end me, smashing my bumper, completely cracked it, my frame didnt get any damage, but the foam board behind the bumper was destroyed to and the side struts were pushed in also. Part of the floor frame of the trunk was a little pushed in also. After repairs the cost came to about $4500. As for the jetta it had to be totaled. I had to perform first aid on the guy driving the jetta with a smashed in nose, bone exposed, broken jaw, and a broken leg. The bit** driving the SUV excuse was that I stopped to fast. That was her excuse. luckily witness saw the whole thing and the CCTV cameras recorded it seeing that we were stopped at a red light, and her phone records were subpoena showing that she was texting while driving. In conclusion I counter-sued her for $75000. For damages, and since I am a recovering combat veteran with severe PTSD, it triggered some stuff, so i sued for psychological issues to.

This story isn't really my story since I wasn't the driver but my father was driving his corvette and came to pick me up since my car was getting worked on in LA. We were getting onto the freeway on ramp when we took the turn a little faster than we should've and fish tailed and hopped over the side of the on ramp (just a curb) which was a steep downhill drop. The car did a 180 in mid air and landed on the side and luckily didn't roll, especially since it was a convertible. The vette is just one of my dad's weekend cars so he hadn't replaced the back tires in awhile and they were pretty worn.. Not gonna lie, every time I take that on ramp I take it nice and easy on the turn.

Unf--king real. Bi--h deserves to be sued and sent to jail where she can be rear ended 24/7.

Default Dont drink and drive.

January of 2010 I was 19 and drinking heavily with some friends, after we were all boosed up the **** talking began. It escalated and I almost got into a fight with one of my friends, It was broke up and I had one of my sober friends give me a ride home.

When I got home I was extremely intoxicated and mad. I don't have any recollection of it because I was to drunk but I hopped in my truck and took off to blow off some steam.

It was pouring down rain that night and I was taking a sweeping right hand turn on the highway, back end kicked out and I lost it. I went down a 10 foot drop and rolled/cartwheeled/barrel rolled you name it, I only remember the first impact.

I was taken by ambulance to the hospital and it was determined I had internal bleeding due to a lacerated liver from blunt force trauma and a gash that got stitched up on the top of my head. My BAC was .21 3-4 hours after the wreck.

The police estimated I was doing 110+ when I wrecked, here are some photos.

I got a DUI and lost my license for 1 year, I am 21 now and happy to be alive. I definitely learned a life lesson, I have not drank and drove since that night. I am still paying on my DUI fine, owe $200 more. I also just bought a 2012 focus S sedan 5MT (thats all I could get with no co-signer and no credit history) I pay $260/month just for insurance.

So moral of the story, don't drink and drive, it will cost you a ton of money and most importantly I could have killed an innocent family, that I could not live with. Be safe.

If you have to learn a lesson the hard way, at least you did it without hurting anyone else.

I always hope stories like yours will prevent someone else from repeating that mistake.

Definitely agree with this guy. It's still completely unfortunate what you did, but at the very least, you learned your lesson without killing innocent persons.

Yes exactly, but I doubt this will have any effect on people, no one expects it to happen to them just like I "knew" it wouldn't. I am definitely most grateful I did not injure anyone else and that I didn't have a passenger because they would most likely be dead. I would rather have myself die than injure some one else from my stupidity any day of the week. I am not a religious person at all but after going through that I have to wonder if someone is watching out for me.

You got the commonly misspelled "definately" correct, but completely botched on grateful..
