At any rate, on this Black MB, I talked him down to $18,900 on his MB. With fees and a 3 month warranty: ($100 deductible) $19,239. 12 month warranty (0 deductible) $19,500 out the door.

The Yellow Z350 is sticking at $15,500 out the door (i think 30 day warranty). Still a tough choice but i think due to the yellow color ill get the MB w warranty....

Now to go investigate interest rates.........
Mercedes was never run by Chrysler. Mercedes bought Chrysler in the mid-1990's as a merger of equals. It was never an equal partnership and Mercedes was the benevolent dictator of everything Chrysler.

Are you a woman? If so, go for the Mercedes. Then again a bright yellow Z with an automatic transmission isn't much better.

Let me give you a reference point. I recently picked up a 2008 Touring MT with 37K miles for $20000 plus tax...around $21600 out the door. The price for the 05 and that mi is *OK* at best. BTW big difference between 05 and 07+ in terms of lighting.. brakes and engines.

Hope you were serious as i just passed on this info to the dealer telling him i ran into a guy who notified me as to what it WAS priced at and asked him to level with me about his "bottom dollar" on it. If you were messing with me, i probably just really pissed him off. LOL

Edit: And here was his response:

I see his point but im not sure tires and service is worth a $2,000 mark up, ..id say more like $1,000 mark up.

Ill let you guys know what i decide.
Yeah I don't know if 4 new tires and an oil change is worth 2K.

I offered the guy $17,999 for her but my wife likes it so much better (part of it is the yellow color of the Z, the other part is the extra luxury of the MB) that i have the feeling she would rather me buy the MB...even if it means buying it at $19,900.

I know this is a Z forum so some bias towards the z is expected but honest opinions...anyone think the MB is worth an extra 4k over that Z?

Pros: Much nicer. Wife likes. Hard top means reduced road noise. Great looks. Top goes down in 22 seconds. Its not yellow

Cons: More miles (55k), $4,800 more. 10 Less horsepower. Higher maintenance cost. About $100.00 more a month.

I know what id do if they accepted my offer of $17,999 on the MB, id get the MB but the add already says i need a printed copy of the add signed by a salesman to even get the $19,900 price so i think thats going to be their lowest number.

Bottom line.... for $4,800. difference in price, i am having a lot of trouble deciding.

Opinions?
I am sure that many of us looked at the Mercedes before buying a 350Z. So no to the Mercedes.

All of the engagement was at the TOP and most of my manual cars (mustang/rx/nissan versa) engaged about 3 inches off the floor...i couldnt exactly get used to all the play in the clutch and then having it grab when it was almost completely let out. I kept over-reviving and it "riding" it too much.
All manual cars with a clutch in relatively new condition and clutch pedal's adjusted grab right off the floor or close to it. When the clutch starts to get older, the point at which it grabs on the pedal comes farther and farther out. It can be solved by adjusting the pedal or getting a new clutch depending on how bad it is. But don't dismiss manual for one bad clutch

I've had my Yellow Z with since brand new with low miles (20K), if you take care of it, the car really looks amazing. I always have people gawking at my Z, not because of yellowness, but because it is very clean, the metal looks glassy all the time. Maybe they are looking at my 19'

Main thing about Mercedes is the price for repairs and maintenance. If the MB is out of warranty, it isn't cheap, it is robbery to me. If you can afford it, then it isn't a question then. My friend owns a MB SL63, he pays $150 for an oil change and car wash- wtf. My boss' old MB SUV, his repair bills averages around $1K-$2K. Lucky rich bastards, I'm still a peon. Good Luck, MB is beautiful, I'd take that if I can afford it.

I'm 26 and I just got my z as my fun car before I settle down and start a family (married 2.5yrs). Wife likes Zs a lot so that's the only reason I got one. My other choice was an sti.

But as far as the Z or MB in your case. I would get the MB since its more luxurious and refined. Hardtop will add more sound control. My friend owns an s2k and the wind can get annoying. Plus it sounds like your wife will be driving it more than you?

When I do start a family I'm sure I'll be looking for a sports-luxury car. I'll pass on camrys and accords or now.
