Default Another "im ABOUT to buy this Z" thread...Pics included

This car was listed for $16,999 and i offered them $15,000 for it and they basically took it. (46k miles..see pics)

With taxes, tag, and handling its $15,500 OUT THE DOOR (SC has a flat $300 tax).

Its a Z350 Vert Touring edition. Edit: This is an auto..not as much fun i know but im married now and the wife has back problems and might need to drive this ONCE in a while...plus i test drove a manual and while it was fun to drive...it didn't "wow me" exactly. All of the engagement was at the TOP and most of my manual cars (mustang/rx/nissan versa) engaged about 3 inches off the floor...i couldnt exactly get used to all the play in the clutch and then having it grab when it was almost completely let out. I kept over-reviving and it "riding" it too much.

Im seriously considering it. I have a 2011 Titan and love it. I also had a 2011 Mustang GT with a bad shifting MT82 tranny that was FAST but not much fun to drive due to cold weather shifting issues and...well it just didnt handle like my 2008 RX8 sport (duh).

Im thinking this 350z would be nice.....havent owned a vert in years and i know its got a good bit more power than the RX8 (even this 05 version). Im sure even in touring form it will handle better than the stang (stang was a non-brembo version with 19inch CS wheels...it was also almost 40k, lol).

My main concern is if this is a fair price. I am done with a sports car as a DD, my Titan is now the DD so this is purely a weekend toy...was trying to keep the payments down to the level of an overblown cable bill and at $15,500, im not too far off!

Please advise..im not TOTALLY sold on this d/t the color (its loud) but i like it otherwise.

FYI, the other car i made an offer on was an 05 Mercedes-Benz SLK 350, which is also a 2 seater 3.5L V6 but has a retractable HARD top (asking price was $19,900 and i offered $17,000 even..havent heard back on that one) It had 55k miles on it.

Youd love the stang! For what its worth..no way i was finding a 2011+ Stang for 15k though (I did actually look. I think youd be looking at the 25-29k range for one. Not bad mind you....i have owned several mustangs! Guess im in the mood for something new and strickly speaking specs....mustangs rule the muscle car world presently! Im just more looking for something for mountain twisties then freeway or blvd dragging. (and cheap)

My price is $15,300. So yes $15,000 is good. If the seller tries to tack-on BS fees say NO or walk away.

Certified one owner never leased or rented. One accident, rear damage @"minor cosmetic" level

15,500 WITH "fees and taxes".

I got my 06 Touring just a few months ago for $15,500. It was a private sale though, yours seems to be through a dealer. Mine only had 11k, 1 owner, and clean carfax. Personally I would try to go lower then the $15 as it has more miles, and doesn't have a clean carfax. Just my 2 cents, hope it helps

Let me throw in a monkey wrench.

I found this Mercedes-Benze for $19,900. (its a 268hp 3.5l HARD TOP 2 seater) with 55k miles.

I offered the guy $17,999 for her but my wife likes it so much better (part of it is the yellow color of the Z, the other part is the extra luxury of the MB) that i have the feeling she would rather me buy the MB...even if it means buying it at $19,900.

I know this is a Z forum so some bias towards the z is expected but honest opinions...anyone think the MB is worth an extra 4k over that Z?

Pros: Much nicer. Wife likes. Hard top means reduced road noise. Great looks. Top goes down in 22 seconds. Its not yellow

Cons: More miles (55k), $4,800 more. 10 Less horsepower. Higher maintenance cost. About $100.00 more a month.

I know what id do if they accepted my offer of $17,999 on the MB, id get the MB but the add already says i need a printed copy of the add signed by a salesman to even get the $19,900 price so i think thats going to be their lowest number.

Bottom line.... for $4,800. difference in price, i am having a lot of trouble deciding.

Opinions?

I looked that this car too. This car was originally at BMW of Columbia then they sold it to this car company. When it was at BMW place it was listed at 12,900. So you can probably haggle them down a little bit. Good luck.

Hope you were serious as i just passed on this info to the dealer telling him i ran into a guy who notified me as to what it WAS priced at and asked him to level with me about his "bottom dollar" on it. If you were messing with me, i probably just really pissed him off. LOL

Edit: And here was his response:
I bought it from them, it did not sell because the tires were bald, I put new ones on , and the car was never properly serviced, i fixed that also. Cars won't sell if they are not ready to go. This one is now ready to go
. James Carter
I see his point but im not sure tires and service is worth a $2,000 mark up, ..id say more like $1,000 mark up.

Ill let you guys know what i decide.

If youre doing a loan you need to make sure that the APR's on the loans are the same else you could be paying more for one loan than the other. Also check your insurance rates between the two.

Mercedes is too close to chrysler for my liking.

I would probably get the Mercedes since it is nicer and is fairly sporty.

No kidding, i think back in 2005 Mercedes was almost completely run by chrysler....

At any rate, on this Black MB, I talked him down to $18,900 on his MB. With fees and a 3 month warranty: ($100 deductible) $19,239. 12 month warranty (0 deductible) $19,500 out the door.

The Yellow Z350 is sticking at $15,500 out the door (i think 30 day warranty). Still a tough choice but i think due to the yellow color ill get the MB w warranty....

Now to go investigate interest rates.........

You are talking about two very different cars here. The Z is more of a sportscar, not as
well finished as the MB.The major objective from Nissan was offer more bang for the buck. Also,as you prolly have noted on this forum, the Z has gobs of mods available from mild to wild. With the exception of radical FI,most are pretty reasonable AND FUN.The
MB on the other hand is more of a luxury sports convert.Whats more,a baby brother
to the SL.A high priced German Miata. You'll by it and not add much in the way of mods.Parts are very expensive.
So,if you are not planning on foolin with a car,go with the MB.If you want a car that
you can personalize,be proud of...like most guys on this forum, the Z is the answer.
Money should not be a factor in the big picture.
