Default 2006-2008 Z owners help!

So I'm thinking about buying a 2006-2008 nissan 350z but I have heard some bad things about those years. I know they have the new VG35HR motors in it and people said that you may have oil consumption issues with those years.. Is that true? and how have those years been for you guys..? any problems?
Thanks!

The 2006 is the Rev-up so it's still a DE motor that a rev's a littler higher. It has about 14 more HP but has less torque. This is the year to be known to have oil consumption.

The 07-08 is the HR (High-Reving) and these are the probably the best years to buy since they have a little more HP, a high red line, and the best internals.

I have an 06 with no oil consumption and it runs great it has about 64k miles now and still going strong, I still check the oil levels halfway through before I need an oil change just in case though. My friend has an HR model is it's great and feels more responsive then my car though. If it was up to me I'd get the 07-08 Z if possible.

First off you didn't do the research. 07 and 08 are the only two models that come with hr motor. The 06 has the oil consumption problem.

I guess he just mistyped it and said VG instead of VQ! lol No worries OP. For peace of mind, stick with an 07-08, but if you get an 07 check the vin number and make sure the clutch slave cylinder was replaced if the vin falls under the recall numbers. Good luck!

As far as the 06, my friend (350zbehold) has had no oil consumption when I told him to switch to Castrol Edge Syntec. He previously had Motul in there and it burned oil about all the time, but after he switched to Castrol he drove the car HARD and easy and still he has yet to burn a drop.

Get 07 or 08. The HR motors have much better lower end torque. But they use a concentric slave cylinder for the clutch, the cylinder is inside the bell housing. This makes it very expensive if you have to replace the cylinder since you have to drop the trans.

What? The HR motors have less low end TQ than the DE's. Read the forum or dyno's much?
