I have an '03 Touring as well, 69k miles, daily driver, runs like a charm...and I'm not exactly the most gentle driver haha. No problems! I change my oil regularly and just had my transmission serviced (scheduled maintenance, no issues).

K&N Intake
Catback exhaust
35% Tint
1.5" rear wheel spacers

Clean Title and Carfax!!

Btw, if your car is registered in Virginia, cops will pull you over if you have 35% tint on the front windows. It's just a matter of time.

And that's a good deal. Mine was 14K (plus dealer fees) with 21k miles.

03, Touring 43k, TT'd @34k. Only probs so far were:

1. rear hatch struts
2. dash rattles some
3. pass seat rattles some

Can't think of any problems I've had with the car

I have this same "issue". Minor inconvenience at best. Love my 350z!

I have an '03 that I bought July 1, 2003. It has never been a daily driver so I only have 22K on it. It runs beautifully and I have never had a problem. With my low mileage, it still looks and runs like new.

I do this too. Its just because the trunk struts are worn out and need replaced.

120K and 0 problems except my headlight ballast went out. thats it, and for that price if the title is clean and clear and no damage it'd b a steal.

You will be fine. Just ask to see the title before exchanging any money.

I bought my 03 z in May'11, had to replace the tranny due to the 3rd gear synchros by September, I kid you not. (Coulda gotten it fixed but 3rd gear itself was messed up pretty badly)
This was at ~55k miles.
tranny + labor cost me $3100..

still in LOVE with my car though

03 enthusiast z w/ 62,000miles faulty 3rd gear syncro replaced under warranty other than that the religious 3000mile oil change has kept her running good. And its been running 6psi for about 10,000miles TT'd. trunk hatch has some trouble some times but that might be the sound system.

03 Track 74k I bought the car with 32k and have loved every moment. The only thing that I had to replace due to wear and tear were the brakes. When it comes to repairs, just replace the part thats broken with a part that is better and you will always be in tip top shape.

Oh and with 74k I just got off the dyno with 266whp.

P.S. Take your car in to your local Nissan dealership and get an oil change. Fully synthetic Kendall oil change was $49.... but wait, there's more! When they ran my VIN number in their system the seen that the fuel lines were recalled and they replaced all of my lines for free! Not only that but they gave me a 2011 Sentra SR that had only 200 miles on it as a loaner car. )

Congrats if you end up making the purchase!

I would love to push the Z from time to time but having transmission and engine problems is the worry for me. Is the service your talking about the 60k all around service that people get?

I thought Virginia was 35% tint limit, anything less was illegal? I'm not positive though. once i get pulled over i'm hoping for a warning and after that have it taken down

Ouch, see this is what i'm worried about..having the transmission go out and replace it. How long after you got it did you notice the 3rd gear synchros problem? Do you drive the car hard or normal driving?

I see that a lot of people have the rear hatch problem and the window motor going out. In my position its probably the least of my worries. Since i'm buying it off a private owner, I won't have any warranty under Nissan, even the 60k mile warranty I believe? And so if anything happens to the tranny or 3rd gear synchro starting to show, I'm going to have to replace it which will be a big hit. And since i'm driving around 5 hours up there to get, I cant drag my mechanic out with me to take a look at it, i'm going to have to try my best to look for anything wrong. And if everything seems fine, lets hope it doesn't show up a couple hours driving back or a couple thousand miles down the road. If everything checks out fine in my eyes (not a mechanic, just an average joe) i'll take the leap and buy the car. I'll deff keep you guys posted and put up some pics next week when I buy it (if its still available).

On my car the flanges rusted and fell off the muffler and mid pipe connection so I had to weld on a section of pipe to reconnect them and quiet it down again. I have a Wisconsin car with 127,000 miles. Also put in an ebay $80 reman drivers window motor.

Not exactly. There are two things at work - (1) the hatch springs, and (2) the struts. If you fix the struts, the hatch will stay open when open, but not pop up when opened. For that, you need new springs (two of them).
