Default I just bought a used 05 350z. What should I do first?

It has 97,000 miles on it. I don't know what the last owner had done to this 350z because the Carfax does not show me everything..

It says the car got a recommended inspection twice and that was it.
(One at 40,000miles, and another one at 89,000 miles)

Should I still bring it to the nissan dealership or repairshop to get a more detailed inspection? I'm thinking about bring it to the Firestone and get a "tune-up".. has anyone tried that?

I would personally take it to a NISSAN dealership. Take it to the SERVICE section of the dealership and ask the service lane guy what you want. He will tell you whatever he tells you with a price and if you like the price go about your way and have your car inspected.

- You may pay a little bit more but it'll be less stress you put on yourself rather than taking it to a "QUICK LUBE" that has random guys working on your Z. Not hating on them at all.. just saying.

Ask for a FULL INSPECTION.

just me tho.. others may do something different and cheaper.

Out of those two options - at least the stealership has folks that you know have had some level of training on Nissan specific items. If you don't already have a mechanic that you trust, you're at equal risk of getting bent over by either place - so the stealership would be the best bet to answer your specific question.

However, you left out the option for if you really want it done right. That's to check with some of the other members in your region and find out the names of the reputable shops that specialize in the Z that are within driving distance. IMO it's worth driving the distance to deal with a reputable shop that knows these cars inside and out.

Yeah, definitely don't go to the "quickie lube joint". My brother used to work at one way back when and the stuff he told me about... let's just say, attention to detail isn't really a big deal with many of those guys getting paid near minimum to get all grimy like that. I thought you were asking like first modification or something. For that I'd say to install a real LSD into it. Costs more than the usual intake, headers exhaust bit that people do, but IMHO, it will do more to unleash vehicle performance than any of those other "bolt on"modifications. I drive mine stock aside from the LSD I installed.

Buying a considerable, high mileage sports car without doing research on it and having no history to it???

I would have passed on it, but good luck with whatever you do.

Do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY from Firestone...take it to the dealer and get a pre- purchase inspection if you want to know about the car. They will recommend what needs to be done and you can decide from there what to do. Firestone will recommend shyt you don't really need just to make money from you.

You should crash it into a pole on a major holiday. But not Thanksgiving. That one's already taken.
