Default Need help about to buy Z...But limp mode after 5 miles and these 4 codes...

It's a 2003 6 speed touring edition, only mods are cold air. I'm a auto tech so I believe I can fix it. Codes are: p0550 p2122 p3138 p1229. It drives fine for 5 miles then u have to clear codes and it's ok again. The owner said he took it to a high end shop and they tightened some grounds and it made it 50 miles and started again. Where should I start looking I googled the codes so I know what they are already.

could be something minor and fixable, but it could be symptoms of a much larger problem.

after 6 years of owning my car, and driving it quite hard it's only ever thrown a cel code twice. once for a gas cap and once for a minor tuning related issue. this car has thrown more codes in 5 miles than mine has in 100k miles. obviously this doesn't mean that the cars was abused or ill maintained, but it does make you start to wonder.

why would someone let the car go for 5k? my only guess's are that they either A). believe that there is a major mechanical problem with the car and don't want to bother with fixing it or B). they KNOW there is a major mechanical problem and just want to offload the issue onto someone else.

me personally I'd look elsewhere. 5k now with the possibility of alot more down the road.

Well since other people will read this in the future, i will add the links as well.

If you already know what they are.. then whats the question OP?

p0550: power steering pressure sensor

https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...I-nMsQKO8czCDw

p2122: Accelerator pedal position sensor

also its code p2138, not 3138. and is part of the code above as well.

https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...w=1003&bih=529

P1229 Sensor Power Supply

https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...w=1003&bih=529

And heres a list of them all. You can search the rest now and see if its something you feel like dealing with as a tech.

This is a classic example of "you get what you pay for". It's either a salvage title or has some severe engine/electrical problems and he knows he can't sell it at a book value.

Run. Run away fast.

Really? And if you are a mechanic, why did someone else have to look up the codes for you? I don't get this entire post.

Sorry OP but you never even indicated what affect those codes were having on the performance of the car. You want US to spend more time on this problem so YOU don't have to? Then some clues might be nice.
