Default Finally did it!

After the pulling to the right, squealing windows, rattling interior, crappy tires, fraying seats, and crappy paint I finally traded in my base Z for a BEAUTIFUL brand new Subaru WRX STI! This car is amazing and Nissan should step up to the challenge and go back to TURBOS! My payment is a wopping 10 dollars less but my insurance should go down now having side air bags, AWD, 4cyl (Turbo will probably offset that), 4 doors. Probably not much but should be cheaper. The Z was fun for a while but every day driving gets old. I'm not gonna bash the Z but it does have some obvious problems from the factory and hopefully the 2004s will have the bugs fixed. I recommend it to anyone to go test drive an STI. Take care everyone.

its a nice car; and plenty fast. but you make it sound as though the sti is flawless. Im not raggin on the car; cause as you said the Z has its own share of flaws. but start counting the miles till your first clutch change; if the tranny lasts that long.

Ares-- how can you say the STi tranny is weak? It's built by porsche and where have you seen people with tranny problems with teh STi? I'd say our trannys and mits clutches are weak, but the STi is pretty much bulletproof.

I already DID test drive an STi...and that's why I went Z.

Enjoy the cheap interior, the mushy gearbox, the horrible clutch, the peaky powerband, the horrible steering feel, and the body roll.

I really shouldn't rag on the STi...it's a very capable car with a lot of potential. Damn, I just made it sound really awful?!? I do like the car, and seriously considered one, but the Z is so much nicer IMHO.

Oh, and you can expect your insurance to go up significantly. Wait and see.

I dont see the insurance goin up too much if any. I turn 25 on the 15 of this month so there is a bonus anyway. AWD is a safety feature and the side air bags I'm sure will help. But anyway I'm not worried about that. 3 days later and I'm loving the power. This thing handles great, I don't know what you're talking about when it comes to the steering. Totally different feel than the Z though. Haven't experienced much body roll either. It's not the nicest interior but last time I looked the Z had a lot of cheap plastic parts inside as well. I liked the Z seats better but I'm happy with the interior. And yes I think it is a beautiful car; beauty is in the eye of the beholder right? I remember saying I wasn't going to bash the Z and I never did. I just stated the problems myself and a lot of others were having. I know the STI isn't the "best" car in the world, I never said it was. It's not for everyone just like the Z isn't. Bash me or it if you want, it doesn't make me feel any better or worse about it. I still love the Z car and its history I just wish they would've worked some of the bugs out before it went into production. Maybe I just got a bad one??? Maybe it's the crappy Nissan service centers out here that couldn't fix my window after 5 times in the shop?? I don't know it just left a bad taste in my mouth and I didn't care for the car anymore. Here are some pics of my "BEAUTIFUL" STI. Take care and thanks for those of you gave support.

The STi tranny is not built by Porsche BTW....Porsche had a hand in desinging it though.

it's heaps stronger than the old WRX 5 speed...whcih itself is quite srong, though most of the owners are admittedly kids who cannot drive worth a damn.

Have fun with the STi...nice car for the $.
