The grass isn't always greener.......
Well, after many months anguishing over whether or not to trade/sell my '07 350Z Touring Roadster, I finally took the plunge. My Z was sitting in the garage and not being used except for some weekend drives. I drove a daily beater to work. I needed something more practical, something I could drive every day, but yet had the peformance of a sports car or at least coming close to one. I looked at the WRX and MazdaSpeed3 and settled on the 2012 MS3 mainly because of the interior as well as driving fun. A dealer gave me what I thought was a good trade on the Z and I got a good price on the MS3. I really like the MS3 which came with the Tech pkg but after 3 months of owning it, I have to admit I miss the Z. Now I find myself researching the internet for a red 370Z which would be my dream car. Looks like I'll be driving the MS3 for a while until I find one but I wish I had kept my roadster. I should have sold my daily beater and driven the crap out of my Z. So the "grass isn't always greener on the other side of the fence" as they say and the MS3 though pretty nice, is not a Z.

You should have gotten the WRX imo... Yeh the interior isnt awesome, but the car itself sure is Sounds and feels so damn good too..
I don't know how you could have chosen the MS3 over a WRX

That commercial almost made me think about driving an Abarth.
Why would you DD the beater but keep the Z in the garage? - I've had my SMB '07 5 months and I've already put 10k on it. You can't keep me out of it.
Last I checked you don't buy these to look at them.

Wow...good guess! You're right, I did after first getting it but now I think I was just trying to convince myself that I made a good decision. Make no mistake, it's not a bad car by any stretech but it's not a Z. I'll be looking at a 2010 370Z w/sport pkg this weekend to trade up. I'm hoping it works out. Stay tuned!

Good point well taken! Now that I got rid of my DD, I will be "forced" to drive the next Z I get full time so I won't have an excuse to just "display" it as it sits in the garage. My problem is my 1 hour commute to work but what a ride it will be I plan to actually drive my next Z.

I can think of several reasons why it makes more "sense" for me to keep my more "practical" MS3 instead of trading it in for another Z but remember, the "grass is always greener" and you said it yourself "Sounds like one of those cases where you appreciated what you had after it was gone". Don't do what I did..if you can afford it, keep it especially if you also have a DD. And regarding having kids in the future, you'll want that Z to get away for a while to regroup and with only one passanger seat, get a baby sitter and take out the wife/girlfriend and enjoy your time. As I speak from my young age of 58, the time goes by faster than you think! Enjoy!!!
