Default About to mod, a few questions

Sorry if this isnt the right forum to post it on, i am kinda new to the scene, and have a couple questions. firstly, i have a 2008 350z base model, and am a little upset that I cannot toggle traction control on and off, is there anyway i could go to the dealer for them to get that installed in the ecu or anything?

Also, I am looking to get an intake, ,either short ram or cold air, and have heard good things about the stillen cold air, anything i should know about this install, not sure about taking off the lip, never done that in previous cars, just wanna make sure i dont mess anything up.. thanks

Why will it not turn ON and OFF. Did you read the owners manual?

The Base does not have TCS (Traction Control System).

You can't turn on/off a feature you don't have.

And why would you even want it on?? Just work on improving your driving skills and you'll find having it is more of a problem then not

Depends on how much you owe on the Z you currently have for a trade in. Seriously tho you should've done your research when buying a Z as there are different models of Z's. I have a base Z but I knew what I was getting into. No CC egh who needs it, no LSD, nothing an aftermarket one won't fix. No brembo's no point if you're getting a BBk.

BTW if you're desperate for the need of a traction control than you're better off trading in your car for the upgraded model cause cost wise it will be more if you try to convert...

My thoughts exactly. Most guys complain about always having to turn traction control off...I don't hear a lot complaining that they want to turn it on

lol...this entire exchange between posts is a riot!
Thanks for making my day.
On the question about CAI's,did you see the recent video that was posted
on CAI data&testing?
Not surprised on the results.
Basically,CAI's by themselves have little value in regards to "power" gained.
Now what you "think" you have gained or feeling is the major factor.
In just about every owner's review I've read, there is always the comments
on how the car "feels" quicker(wow!).Also, gets better mpg.
In reality, most times you get less mpg(because you tend to cowboy the car/it "sounds"
better).
Power gains are realized from using a recipe of components. Its the balance of all those
that will give you some real HP.Now,unless you go full FI,thats another story.

Save your money,get a Popcharger.

My dad got me the car as a gift, my hands were tied. He went for the newest model with the lowest miles for the lowest price, and of course he came up with the '08 base.

Simply curious is being bale to install anything to turn off my tcs. If not then say no, if yes than tell me what there is to do lol

1st question would have been answered by looking up your trim level and seeing that you don't have traction control. No button to turn it off would have meant that you don't have it.

2nd question could have been answered by post #9

https://my350z.com/forum/2489732-post9.html

If you're looking for info on how to remove your front bumper to install a CAI we also have a DIY for that:

https://my350z.com/forum/body-interi...val-video.html

If you need anything else I would first suggest doing several advanced "searches by thread" and 9 times out of 10 there is already a thread on the subject.

If you're lost just PM me and I will walk you through it
