Well if you plan on getting aftermarket wheels like the most of us, it comes down to weather or not you want VDC.

After my accident, if I buy another Z, I would prefer a performance modle for the VDC even though I'd replace the rims.

Pretty sure the only diff. are the rims and VDC.

Someone else can chime in here.

I am buying Performance just for the VDC. Never hurts when there is some help in the bad road conditions, and you can always turn it off when you need to.

$2k difference just for vdc. How many enthusiast owners regret not paying the $2k for vdc?

Not me....it wasn't worth it for me to shell out the extra money for 18's, TPS, and VDC. My old car was rear wheel drive w/o any traction control, and TCS alone is a huge help....plus VDC won't help you when you turn it off and are really driving hard...bwahahaha.

Dont regret it one bit, my dealer(sales manager himself) swapped out some 18's from his company car 350 performance for me (dealing with him for years). So I'm happy with my enthu. by now I would have swapped out those ugly 17's by now.

As others have stated, I think it mostly comes down to whether you want the VDC or not... and you will get plenty of arguments on both sides.

I'd err on the side of caution if you can afford it. It is great added insurance if you think you'll be stuck driving in bad weather conditions, be it rain, snow, ice, or a truck swerving in front of you... well, that's not a weather condition, but VDC will help you then also. And, you can always cut it off if you need to.

There are many who will tell you they don't have it and don't miss it, but I'm willing to bet almost, if not, all of those that say this have never been in a situation where VDC would have saved their a$$.

If you got the money, but the Performance... you'll have plenty of money and time for mods down the road. If your budget is tight enough that it is the difference in getting the Z or not, then go for the Enthusiast. If you really want to save money to do immediate mods to the car, just buy a base model or a used 2003.

I liked pitching my z around, so I turn off the TCS most of the time. The other times when TCS is on and I do not realize, it causes trouble. Like pulling out in traffic and it cuts the fuel!!!! I would buy another Enthu over a Perf.

RWD cars have been around a lot longer than VDC has, if people learn how to drive the car then VDC is not needed. I haven't had the need for it because I don't put myself or the car in a position to needed, and I do drive aggressively, just knowing when to apply brakes or accel and how will be all you need.
