They probably put the stock radio back in before they sold it so they could keep their head unit.

 

My 08 came with it along with a free XM radio for one year. Oh well, it was nice for a year....

 

So if I got an aftermarket headunit with XM or Sirius I could connect it to this antenna?

 

this is a STOCK xm radio antenna. I have one on my 08 touring, and it came with free xm radio for a year. And yes, if you subscribe to xm radio, you should be able to listen to it through that antenna.

 

My 2008 touring came with it with the Bose head unit with satellite. I swapped my headunit and don't have satellite now. My understanding is the stock satellite antenna won't work on an aftermarket unit. But I'm sure someone on here would be able to wire something!

 

like every one said it is a satellite radio antenna. I had one mounted to the strut bar in the back that ties the two rear shocks together. the man I bought the car from had a stand alone unit in the flip up cubby hole in the dash. he sold me the car with all the wires still in the car he just took the unit. he even left the mount for it.

yep....you can make it do that. A few threads on it as well.

 

tell your brother to hold the lock & unlock key for like 3-4 seconds and then the beep will work. you can also turn yours off by doing the same.

did your cars come with manuals?. I am guessing these are your first cars with remotes. Just so you know this is a feature on most cars with remotes

 

Z's dont have DRLs stock btw.
