Four banger Z??

with the amount of parts they swap and share to endless NISSAN platforms, id doubt anything making its way into the car that isnt already in something else en masse , and vis versa.

I understand the 6 cyl heritage but I see no problem with progress. Especially when that means the Z gets lighter, sportier, and likely will have more tunability.

Mustangs and Camaros are just not the competition for this car though. It would have to be twice as big and have a v8. I expect to see the new Z competing with the FRS and BRZ; and as most people said with a turbo 4.

Im sure plenty of people would be interested in a 4 cylinder variant, but I feel like most current Z owners cant stand the idea. I love the 6 and given the option of a turbo 4 or 6 I would pick the 6, but just my personal opinion. To me the Z is in a class of its own. I wanted one since I saw the first 350 come out and what almost 9 years later just bought it and it still is freakin amazing, how many cars can you really say that about? I just would hate to see a major overhaul of the Z and turn it into something like a mustang where you cant drive down the street without seeing a couple hundred.

I hope that Nissan got the "picture" when they made the project 370z. They know what we (enthusiasts) want in the next Z such as a turbo setup maybe a twin turbo setup. If they offer those options such as suspension upgrades like the KW V3's to even the interior design, it would be better because obviously our interiors are just pieces of plastic. Who knows because nothing is set in stone just yet. Although, the downside to all this is that the price will go up substantially with upgrades like the ones in project 370z. It would be a disappointment to drop the v6 from the Z. Just doesn't seem right. As many people said, leave the 4 cylinder to the next silvia.

If you follow its history since inception, it has a trend of just that..downgrades..the z31 being the worst model to come out..
Enter late year 1989 . The z32 was the beginning of the upswing thank God lol.

Motortrend says "news that executives have finally given the green light for a compact sports car known in house as the "Mini-Z." It's not a new rear-drive Silvia/240SX -- that project was cancelled in late 2008 during the financial crisis. Instead, it's a compact, front-drive-based sports car that will be aimed squarely at the Toyota GT86/Scion FR-S/Subaru BRZ."
so sad that its not going to be a Silvia. and Motortrend also stated in the article that "Though Nissan didn't reveal the concept's powertrain in Shanghai, we've learned it was fitted with the 190-hp, 1.6-liter turbo-four from the Nissan Juke"
