Default 03 coupe base model, good deal?

Hello anybody,

I have found a silverstone, 350Z base model with tinted windows, spoiler, kickplates, leather seats, all post market obviously. I love the color and the car drives nice. The cost is 26999. I am willing to pay it, but I was wondering if you thought its a good price, alson do the the added traction control, cruise control, and metal pedals make an absulutely great difference in your opinion?

If this is from a dealer (and is brand new), be sure to wheel and deal. I would pay NO HIGHER than 26.5... I've seen posts here from users that say they paid around the same price you mentioned for their Enthusiast models. Check edmunds to see what the reported average (their TMV) indicates is the "selling" price of the Base Z in your area.

If you are working with a loose budget, then go for the Enthusiast (because you get a LSD and HID xenons included with what you mentioned above). Else, get the Base. Nothing wrong with either choice, only a matter of preference. (afterall a Z is a Z ).

oh, sorry about that, i forgot to mention that it is a used car with 15k on it. I actually found it at carmax and they dont wheel and deal as you say.

Im not in a real rush so I could wait until another car shows up. I found a dealer offering a new enthusiast 04 in the same color, but i think the price would be about 29k.

Definately NOT a good price. For a car with that many miles on it, you could get a Touring or Track model for that price.

Sorry for the double post, but a NEW base model cost about that much... last year. Now that its a year old and has 15k miles on it, walk away.

if you can talk that base model down to about 22 its a good deal. I just think someone is trying to break even on the car loan... probably paid over MSRP so is stuck with it.

Not a very good deal. You can get a brand new 04 base for that much plus a relatively small margin.

Those options listed aren't worth the 15k miles already racked up on the car.

Just looking out for a potential Z owner. Good luck....and keep lookin

Run, not walk, away from that deal.

My vote would be for a new Enthusiast; you get a lot for extra 2 grand.

Thanks again, another question, what exactly does traction control do? other than the obvious "control traction"?

It cuts the throttle when your tires start spinning. That's pretty much it.

Anything below $22,500 would be reasonable for further consideration. But it is not necessarily true that low mileage cars are better; as low mileage cars can indicate city or short distance driving; which imposes a heavier wear & tear on the car.

With used cars, if a car is used, more highway driving is preferable.

For hard driving with low mileage cars, I would check the condition of the pedal pads, brakes & when it was replaced last, if the tires were the original & its condition, also records/receipts of required scheduled servicing, ya-da, ya-da

And, definitely pay an independent 350Z mechanic to test the car and check it up on a lift.

Have you priced any new base models?

Good luck

Gerald
