Default Talk me in or out of a Z

So here's the deal I have a habit of buying fast fun cars and then getting bored and selling them after a year or so. My wife is relatively unhappy with this and threatens to kill me if i do it again in the next year or so.

Well it's been about 6 months since I sold my last fun car and i'm itching for something else despite the possible horrible consequences of losing my life or other more important parts.

I've been looking at the 350z for awhile but keep skipping over it due to it being kind of porky and at the time overpriced in my area. I was looking to get another Evo and found that the Z market seems to have dropped through the floor and the Evo market has went through the roof.

Browsing this forum people seem to talk about the Z as an okay car but not anything amazing. So this is your forum, talk me into buying a Z. What do you like about it and what do you hate about it? Does it's porkiness make it feel like less of a sports car in tight corners? Does F/I make it feel better?

the Z is really along the same weight as the Evo, so if that's your competition, it's not 'porky. it's 'porky' if you were to compare it to .. lotus cars, miatas, brz/frs etc. it's n/a 6 vs f/i 4, rwd vs awd, 2 dr vs 4 dr. completely apples to oranges.

aside from you already having an issue of cycling through cars and pissing your family off.. drive them both and pick which you like best. I don't know about you but I don't let some random person on the internet determine how to spend my money.

get your head out of your butt too - boosting a used car on an n/a platform is not a very good recipe for those without the knowledge and cash to keep it running.

Buy a bike, you'll scare the **** out of yourself before you get bored. Cheap gas, insurance, entry.

"Does F/I make it feel better?" .... seriously?

Wow, sorry to ask a dumb question. From reading the forum now and back when I first looked I got the impression that the Z was a nice car but it didn't drive like a modern sports car in part due to the power to weight ratio. From what I understand the car just doesn't feel like a modern sports car. Maybe you guys don't know what i'm talking about and thats fine. You can keep the flamethrowers going it doesn't bother me. Lets see who can get the best "Your so stupid you should die" post. I'm sure it's much more interesting than whatever else you do in your day. I always forget that people so enjoy making fun of questions on these type of forums.

If anyone in here has driven a decent amount of other sports cars could you please let me know how the Z stacks up (by PM is fine, this is going to get ugly quickly i see)? Why did you buy it instead of something else and if you had the money right now would you buy it again or one of the more modern sports cars? How does the Z feel in tight corners? What about it makes it more fun to drive than other cars out there?

For those of you that went F/I do you regret it at all? Is it more if PIA to keep it maintained than you expected? Are there little bugs that you just can't get out and have to live with that drive you nuts?

Actually you know what, mod please lock and delete when you get a chance i'm done with this forum.

You must not be married. If you were you would understand that the wife always wins.

I bought the Z as a keeper. I don't know what it is, but even after 8 years I still look at my Z when I walk away from her and smile, I still enjoy detailing her and basking in her glow, I love it when I'm cruising along and someone gives me a thumbs up or a wave, and I like the Z community and the camaraderie.

The experience of driving it still makes me smile. I enjoy taking the Z to the gym, the grocery store, work, or Zdayz. When I start the car, it's like I'm getting ready to go on an adventure. The digital display cycles through air pressure, speedo, mileage, etc and I go through a check system before I drive away.

The lines of the car still catch my attention, and I'm happy with what I've done to the Z. For me, I modded the car to make myself happy and for no one else. That was the key to my ownership success.

Finally, I personally like the performance of the Z. It's NA, and I don't care if it's not boosted. I can still take the car on the track and feel the rush of racing w/o having to brag about 400 or 500 whp. I have enough to take the curves and turns, to get in front of traffic, or to avoid messy situations. I taught myself how to use the most out of my Z, and that's what matters to me.

So if you're the kind of person that's never happy, I want to talk you out of the Z. I believe you're the kind of person that devalues a car more than anything else. Perhaps instead of worrying about the next fun car, maybe you should contemplate the finer things in life and appreciate whatever you have and learn to be happy.

I will leave you with these words of wisdom. Live well.

1. How does your wife dictate your spending from the kitchen?

(I'm joking, of course. Mine would've stabbed me if I had not bought the Z and kept my IS 300 another day.)

2. Just go take a Z for a test drive and see how you like it for yourself. Maybe its just a local thing but I've found that car salesmen enjoy going for a test drive in a car like this, hoping to have a little fun. I haven't driven a lot of sports cars to tell you how the Z compares, but I will say that I can definitely feel the car's weight. It's not an issue, but I know that it's there.

I agree with SmoothZ. You will have to learn to appreciate this car. If you're just going to get bored of this one in the future (which we all know you will), then why should we bother trying to convince you to join this family.

The saying "Once a cheater, always a cheater" also applies to men who cheat on other cars.....

If I was you I wouldn't get one. Mods are sooo expensive on this platform. I should've just saved for something else but then again mine is a straight up money pit. One thing goes wrong after another and it's just a pain to deal with. I'm looking into an evo or sti. I love driving my Z when it's actually functioning mechanically but you can always get something with more power for the money.
