MPG at high speed
04' 6MT Roadster, Touring, only mod ZWT POP Charger:
Around back roads and normal driving I do including all of the warm up time sitting in the driveway I average around 21-22. This does include what I would call spirited or aggressive driving from time to time.
Last weekend I took it on a 75 mile trip (one way). On the way back I reset the meter once I hit the interstate, when I pulled into the garage 27.9 mpg average. This was running 70-85 for 55 miles and some hard downshifts for redneck passing, and the rest was 10 miles @ 55-60 and 10 more miles from 45-30 until I pulled in the garage. This was paying no attention to "trying to get good MPG". I purely wanted to see if what I had been getting on the interstate was even close to what some on here had said.
Mine does get much better mpg above 55. Purely running the crap out of the car lowest I have seen on it was about 14mpg, and that was only for a short period.
I'm no lead foot, but when I do decide to let it loose I do push it at times. I've also calculated this off of a full tank to the best you can without having accurate degreed measuring or weights, and I get about the same numbers.
So in summary......Mine gets pretty good mpg.

Lol ive tried this a few times with interesting results. I was on the freeway, relativity flat, going about 90 miles an hour in my 03' track. I used the computer to get the mpg, and it read something along the lines of 24. I tried it going 100 and i believe it was 23. I don't fully trust my computer, just because. But they weren't bad numbers at all.
not at all wrong dude i got 28 mpg going to la from vegas which is primarily a downhill trip most of the way and coming back from vegas i got about 26. so that seems to be the range, your car is most efficient in its highest gear at low rpms, if you can keep a light touch on the throttle and maintain your speed, you will hit those numbers. i wasnt constantly dropping from 100 to 80 than back to 100, it was a straight shot at midnight, no cars and this is on a highway, in the city i get about 18 to 21.
No prius mod lol but It was downhill.
Learn to flame a little better bro.
Other than my own calculations done at the pump, put 15 gallons in at 25 miles a gallon give you 375 miles, it took me 3/4 a tank to get from vegas to la, which is a 290 mile trip i still had a little less than a quarter of a tank left over. hmmm, seing as how 15 gallons is the max you can fill a z up, i think my number were spot on as the readout actually calculated it correctly, and i tracked the mileage from the pump to the house in cali.

Yeah but nobody actually uses the full 20 gals. Ive never been able to get more than 15.5 gallons in and thats when my light is on. Other people have experienced the same thing.

and thats not the only thread ive seen it on, but ive also read that the z's trip computer and mpg computer is screwy. you could be on empty on the computer and actually still have 3-4 gallons left.

When is this stupid shat of using the trip computer to figure out average mileage going to end? For those new to the game: Fill your tank, drive it until close to empty, fill it back up and divide the mileage by the gallons. THAT is your average mileage. Your mileage going downhill from Vegas to Cali means absolutely nothing unless that is the only driving you do, ever. It is AVERAGE, folks, not trip to trip. And I am not flaming but I do get exasperated at these constant threads. Getting 35 mpg for a short distance might make you feel all warm and fuzzy but it means nothing.
