Default whats your story

Although I love my SB....sometimes I wish I'd bought white or maybe one of the silver colors......My other ride gave up on me a few weeks ago so I had to use the Z for work the weather hasent been to bad untill the other day when we had about an inch of snow the roads were clear as the gritters had been out early that morning, boy I kringed when i heard all of that grit lashing at my body work not to mention all the crap the cars in front were throwing up......Anyway it was below or right at freezing point but I wanted to wash all the grit and salt of the Z....My neighbours must have thought I was mad.so I washed and dried the car my heart sank as I saw all the rock chips on the front bumper and hood,I could kick myself for not getting a clear bra fitted when I first bought the car....So I kind of envy you guys who bought the lighter colors I know you must get rock chips but Im guessing they dont show half as bad as the darker colors. Oh well..
I intend on getting my bumper and hood repainted in the spring, and then getting the clear bra.

have more willpower dammit! lol
superblack is an amazing color.

i personally know everyone has felt the same way as you do because the Z is a great looking car period! everytime i see a daytona blue i say to myself"ah man i should've gotten that color."

The fact of the matter remains...it doesn't matter what color you buy you're going to have some doubts. You bought the color for a reason...you liked it.

The reason i chose super black is because it can look classy/luxury and sporty at the SAME TIME especially at night. Imagine wearing a nice suit walking out of a superblack rather then a daytona blue-daytona blue looks amazingly sporty.

the redline...ohmy that is amazing...it's sooo red! ha ha...
sunsetlemans has the exotic touch to it...i mean all these colors are awesome.

all in all when black is clean...i personally think it steals the show. repeat CLEAN(it's the hardest color to take care of but the effort is rewarding) cyrstal CLEAN..it's like looking into a coal turning into a diamond....(not that i've ever seen that before or if it's possible...just sounded nice ha) or looking into the black hole and you can never come back....muhahahaha!

Agreed...cleaning my black Z is a much bigger chore than it was cleaning my old blue Integra, but the effort is well worth it. As soon as the spring comes, I'm going to have the clearbra put on my front bumper. I already got the hood and the front fenders/mirrors filmed, and its worked out well so far.

I love my SB Z. I used to have a black car back in the day, swore i would never get another so my last car was a Silver 3.0CL. Then i started looking at the Z and yep, i got the black again. I love this color. The Z looks absolutely sinister in this color. IMO no other color looks as good when clean, however black looks worse when dirty. I too have notice little chips and things when washing my car and it pisses me off. Oh well, in a year or so i'll obtain SB paint from Nissan and have the whole car painted again.

They say that the color black is the color of "enthusiasts." Sure it takes more to keep it clean but when you do, nothing catches your eye more than a polished Super Black Z!

Can you tell I drive one???

Default Soooo glad to see this post

I've got a SB Roadster, thought I was the only one that was having second thoughts about going to a lighter color.
The Z is such a hot car, but IMHO the black just makes it that much hotter. Was able to see a Silver Stone in person today, it was zweet! Will definately be getting the clear bra treatment done this spring, until then I'll just keep washing it in the garage.

My TRACK had a few small paint chips before I even hit 1000 miles on it. Once I found out about the clear bra it was on the car.
I highly recommend it. You cant even tell it's there. other than a few tiny chips the bumper is mint. I've seen plenty of Z's without it and most that have any miles on them are chipped up pretty bad.

Oh yeah
The 3M Clear Bra cost about 300 for the bumper and another 300 for the hood. you can have the head lights done too for about 30 bucks.

I originally wanted Super Black...have always loved black cars because they age so well if you maintain them. IT's the perfect mix of class and performance.

However, all my friends with black cars talked me out of it. Judging by all their swirl marks and dings it's a pain to maintain but boy does the car look nice when they're shined up. Alot of folks mentioned how the Z looks alot smaller in a darker color but I actually like that factor.

I have a silverstone and love the metallic flakes inside the color. IT looks evil at night and sort of classy in the day time. Every once and awhile I'll give out a *sigh* when I see a black Z because that was my original passion.

I give you guys props for going with superblack though. Be strong and good luck with the maintenance.

Default SB ROCKS!

Every once and awhile I'll give out a *sigh* when I see a black Z because that was my original passion.

I, too, sigh whenever I see ANY other Z and wonder if SB was the right choice. Then I wash and Zaino it and am SO glad I went with SB; finally getting up above freezing today so a-washin' I will go. For a day or two, it will be the best looking car on the road. (Ok maybe a mile or two!)

Talking

Have to admit that one of the reasons I could go with the Super Black was that the Z is my toy-- my daily driver is an '02 Maxima SE.

So I don't have to worry about the perils of driving it in the snow and road salt--- just the darn stone chips!

I'm sure I'll be looking for the clear bra in the spring!

I don't thing anything looks better than black when the car is new and freshly waxed. However, after having a black 300ZXTT, and a black Vette, I would never own black again! All the time you spend trying to keep it clean and the furstration you feel when you see all the microscopic swirls that direct sunlight inevitably brings out is just not worth it to me. Black paint ages quicker, visually, and I'd rather spend what little free time I have driving the Z rather than cleaning, polishing, and waxing it.

i cant seem to put enough coats of Z5. i always use MF towels, and big blues for drying, but i some how have mad swirl marks. Its tough to wax in chicago when i dont have a heated garge and its like 20degrees outside. I love my superblack, and when its freshly waxed, its unbelieveable. I went with black over red or blue becuse i didnt want a ticket machine or that much attention, but the black is simply amazing.

I did that for years with my 300ZXTT and Vette. You know what? I wish I had back all the time and money I spent trying to keep those cars looking decent. In the end, it didn't matter. I no longer have the cars, and every time I cringed at the dust that appeared on the black paint five minutes after it was sparkling clean was a waste of energy. From there I got a pewter Z06 and and now a PPW Z, and I love both colors. They always look good (unless the car is absolutely filthy) and I only have to spend a minimum amount of time to have the Z looking Pristine. My black cars looked good for maybe a day of driving before they needed care. If the weather is good, the other colors look fine for weeks.

When I see even fairly new black cars in direct sunlight now (and we have over 320 days of it per year in Vegas), covered with hariline swirls and micro-scratches, I feel even better about not having black. Occasionally, the cars looked awesome, but what a waste of time it was.

I applaud those who will put in the effort to deal with it, but I've done my time and I'm glad to be out of "black car" prison.
