Today I was frustrated because My No. Va dealer told me of a 9/4 delivery date and my car is absent from their inventory listing.

So, I found Distribution & Auto Services Inc. web page, e-mailed the contact shown there w/ my VIN and asked for the status.

I received the following:

"We received your car from Japan on September the 8th. Our due date to deliver your car is on the 25th of September.
Let me know if you need further information.

I called my dealer and told them (they didn't know this!). I guess my dealer misinterpreted the delivery date??

I have mixed feelings (dissapointed that I don't have my car, but at least a bit optimistic about the new date).

Final word, I'll believe it when I see it.

 

2 and a half weeks is ridiculous. Thankfully since I live so close to Newport News, mine won't take that long, hopefully...

BTW, what is your VIN? Makes me wonder if mine is here already or on a ship since they said early Oct., but first said mid-Sept.

 

The Serial No. portion of my VIN is 001865.

 

My car sat at the NewPort News port for almost 3 weeks before delivery. So that sounds about right.

Mine has been there since 8/28. Supposedly looking at 9/20. My VIN ends in 1596. Figures I'll be out of town from the 18-22 of Sept! I've waited 7 months for the car and the ONE time I go out of town it is due.

 

DAS in Elizabeth, NJ confirmed my car arrived on Monday.. (VIN #1890). It's scheduled for delivery next week but they said they would try there best to get it out by Saturday...

I'm keeping my fingers crossed..

Hmmm....you all are getting close to my VIN, 204x. Oh where oh where is my car??

 

I wonder why the lag time seems to be 3 weeks in Newport News and about 1 week for Elizabeth NJ.

 

TCL & others: I believe the operation here in the NY Metro area is a bit larger and has many more auto carriers available. So the cars seem to move out faster.. It also has to do with the orders of all Nissan vehicles.. My dealer told me he was back ordered on Pathfinders and expected several deliveries soon.. Figure they can tack on a few Z's to fill the car carrier..

Thanks for the info... I was also told to expect the car during the first week of Sept. (still no car!!) Dealer's been saying "any day now" for more than a week. Since you've gotten a positive response from DAS, I decided to send them email as well to find out if the car is at the Newport News facility.

Make sure you use the e-mail addy above for Annette Payne and give her your VIN. I sent my message to the main contact e-mail for DAS and the first message I got was simply informing me to check directly w/ Newport News. I faxed Newport news and haven't heard from them.

Shortly thereafter, I received the note from Annette. I guess it was forwarded to her...she seems to be the person w/ the info!

The real pain, an I've been thru it, is getting up after a restless night and going "maybe it'll be today!!" then another day, then another. It's a bit better to know your car will be shipped the 25th than to promise it on the 4th and then deliver it on the 25th without any news in between. Vagentleman - you're gonna LOVE this car but hate the wait.
The cars ARE trickling out however as I and others see a truck or two almost daily heading west. I'd imagine the same thing holds true for the carriers going Rt 64 to 95 north but I don't live on that side.

 

Doh! I sent email to the address on the main page (I did mention that the car would come in through Newport News). I'll attempt to recall that message, then send one to the address you mentioned. Thanks!!
