Default New 350z mods

Hey everyone,

I've had my Black 03 Z for about a year now and I am absolutely in love with it. It now has 105k miles and the 2-3 and 5-6 gears were grinding pretty often. It was becoming difficult to shift all around so I ordered a replacement cd009 tran. While I was at it I ordered stillen SS headers, Borla true dual exhaust, and a jwt pop charger.
I will post updates when I get them installed, probably next week.

I've been following this site for a while and just wanted to join and say hey

Thanks!

EDIT:

Ended up going with the borla TD, Z1 test pipes, z1 high flow intake, z1 clutch/flywheel combo, ss stillen headers, and cd009 tranny.

Took about 12 hours for everything with lifts and two men.

^^^^Likewise. I've got 128,000 on my original clutch but I seem to be the exception and you will save quite a bit in labor by doing it at the same time.

I appreciate the advice.
I thought about going ahead and doing it while its apart but the $600-800 for the set up I want is just a little much considering what I just ordered. mine is performing well at the moment.( fingers crossed) The labor isn't a huge deal because a family member of mine owns an auto shop and will help me for free at his shop.

welcome to the community!
Just my opinion based on experience, the headers are a waste of time and $.
You won't notice much difference. The Borla is great. But a better choice for your
exhaust system would be HFC's.Plus,I'd add a plenum spacer. Then get your car tuned.
Z1 Motorsports in Carrollton is one of the best in the country.

yep, headders when FI, stock w out. Other mods are far better suited to the car.
Welcome. btw, that transmission can be found lightly used for 5-750 bucks usually. Hope you didnt opt for a 1600 new one. Youll need the entire tranmission tho, including the shifter brackets etc.. they are quite different between the two transmissions.

Thats just my opinion tho.. make sure the shifter is realigned using the Nissan process most ppl think they just bolt right back in, not the case.

I will deffinitely take your advice on the HFC's.
I ordered a new one from Z1, should it have all the parts I need to swap it out? I thought it was a direct replacement.
Thanks

Yes,has all the parts and a direct bolt on.Have you swapped out cats before? If you don't
have the tools, its a bit time consuming.Especially getting at the
front stud. What area do you live?I'm running Z1 HFC's.Had them do the
install. They have all the tools& do them everyday.Rather than taking a weekend of busted knuckles,I paid less than 100 bucks to let Z1 do it and
get a tune at the same time.Possibly you are in a area of the state thats
not close to Atlanta? In addition, the Z1 HFC's are just as good or better
than the "name" brands for a lot less.

Haha I've spent about $4500 now since I ordered a z1 clutch/flywheel combo.
Thanks for the recommendation on the hfc, I am familiar with z1. Planning on going there for a tune.

I ended up going with the z1 motorsports test pipes for $180. Great deal I think.

Haha. Get 12 hp back by cleaning/changing the air filter once or twice a month.

THIS.

I recently bought a JWT clutch and lightweight flywheel, and I'm being dead serious when I say that I wish I would've done it when I got the car. While you're doing everything else, I would highly recommend it. Does not lose any comfort and grabs hard. Also the lightweight flywheel makes a night and day difference.
