Default 03 Z or 04 Z?

I'm actually kind of nervous to post anything because from what I've seen you guys can be kind of harsh, but this seems to be the one place to get an opinion from people who actually know what they're talking about.

I'm looking into buying a Z and so far I've found 2 that I'm potentially interested in. I just can't decide which one to pursue.

1) 03 Z, 110k, M/T, clean title - 8k
2) 04 Z, 94k, A/T, rebuilt title - 8.5k

The 03 for sure, M/T is where it's at and I couldn't imagine how boring this car would be with A/T.

The big thing though is that the 04 has a rebuilt title. You'll have problems insuring that, selling that, and who knows what it looks like underneath.

03 for sure. It has a little more miles but the rebuilt title+A/T would keep me from buying personally. In fact just the A/T would have been more than enough reason to not buy.

I have an 03 touring and love it. I have 126k miles but it runs strong and rides good(for a Z). Do not get a car with a rebuilt title, that's just opening a can of worms. Not something you want to get into for future reasons and for possible current mechanical reasons. Plus $8k isn't to bad of a price

If you can get an 04 I would for sure, just not that one. Everything else is pretty much the same, but all the Z's from 04 and up came with built in wideband O2 sensors and are much easier to tune.. plus the ecu's in the 03's can be tempermental. Be a lot easier on you later on when you get into the mods

I have no problem with salvage vehicles as long as you know the history, who did the work, etc, AND you get a significant discount.

Go with the 03,
rebuilt and AT is bad news bears.

Everyone on here is knowledgable and are eager to help. the only thing from what i have seen is that if you don't use the search button they get frustrated and rightfully so, as many topics have been talked to death.

Been a member here for a long time but rarely post as search seems to come up with everything i ever need.

Whenever possible I would try to go with an 07-08

If you must settle for between a 2003 or 2004 I would go with a 2004 just not one with a rebuilt title. There are too many Z's out there to settle with one that may have some gremlins

If thats the only option, definately go with the 2003 just because it's manual and most importantly it's clean title.

Neither.

Look for another car. If you're spending under 10K on a Z you will not be happy. Unless you get lucky and it's clean and well taken care of.

Usually i would say there is nothing wrong with an A/T but go with the 03, its a clean title.

I agree on this one. I used to own a G35 Coupe laser red with black leather had all the options it was A/T with 89k miles got it for 8.5k rebuilt title. The damage was minimal.
Also insuring a rebuilt title car is no problem, same as every other car, how do i know? cause i owned owned one and it was insured on State Farm. I will buy a rebuilt car once again if i end up on a good deal and if the seller has images to back up the damage. You drive the car not the title so might as well save yourself some money.

But in your case out of those two cars id go for the M/T not much discount between clean and rebuilt title. Good luck
