First,whats your budget?
Convertible conversions are done everyday.
They are supper expensive. There is more to it than just hacking off your
roof. The chassis will need stiffening. In addition,it will probably look
pretty bad.Better off as suggested, sell your car and buy a roadster.
It will be much cheaper.I've seen a targa conversion.Did not look too bad.
It keeps the lines of the coupe with the option of the open air.
Do a search on 350z targa conversions.I'd go that direction.

you should just run no hatch. it would be open to air and look like a ZedCamino.

I've wondered this for some time myself. A hardtop Z would be nice, and very expensive. If you have the funds for it I would love to see it done just because it would be unique. Maybe you can give Nissan's HQ a call and give them some ideas for future models. I saw a targa top 350Z before, those look pretty sexy too. Also very expensive.

Do it OP and just take plenty of photos. Are you thinking of doing it yourself or passing it over to a shop to do it?

If you're a very experienced craftsman and have a spare Z to experiment on (and possibly junk when all goes wrong), then by all means -- give it a shot.

If you're going to have a shop do it, you will spend upwards of 20x the amount of what a used but good condition Z roadster will cost you -- and it still won't look or function 100%.

Huge waste of time, energy, and MONEY!!!!

Sell your car, and buy a roadster.

+1 to sawzall.

As long as youve got some bondo, primer and some chassis braces youre good to go.
