OK, the Meeting Timing and location is confirmed: 8am Sat 1/24/04 at the Shell Station at the bottom of Angeles Crest Hwy. Take the 210 east/west, and the Shell Station is just south of the freeway. I will be driving a Black Enthusiast with 19inch Volk GT-C's. See you all there
I'm kinda new to the board, but thought I'd propose a Saturday run through Angeles Crest Hwy...route/timing TBD. I'm a seasoned veteran through the Crest on my Ducati 998, but want to practice with the Z. I suggest meeting at or near the Shell station off the 210 Freeway/Angeles Hwy 2 Exit. Maybe 8am or so?[

It is a great road to test out the road handling characteristics of the car. It is not a road to go fast of course because of 1) lots of other people, including many on motorcycles coming the opposite direction, 2) occasional fallen rocks and debris on the road surface and a few dozen opportunities to hurtle 800 vertical feet or more down a sheer cliff face and 3) highway patrol in numbers, usually trying to catch guys on Dukes and Katanas, but willing to settle for Porsches, NSXs, Vettes and now Z/G cars.
But it is scenic and loads of fun to drive. Sure. I will be there at 8pm.

well i live in la canada, and i can tell you that ive been up the crest quite a few times. it is a great drive and scenic too. you guys have to be cautious though because the police in la canada are known to be very very **** about speeding and pretty much everything along those lines. if time permits, myself and my G will be accompanying you guys at the shell station. i look forward to a safe drive with you guys.

Excellent...I'm glad some others will be joining. Yes...the cops can be quite brutal on the Crest. If you you guys feel up to it, we could meet in Sunland and head up the back side of the Crest. It is actually a MUCH better drive, with absolutely no cops and very few other vehicles on the road. My riding group used to ride the back side, then we take Upper Big Tujunga to connect back to HWY 2. It's only about 10 miles further to meet off off Sunland Blvd.....we could meet at the Cocoas on the left side. 210 West, Exit Sunland Blvd...right turn....Cocoa's on the left side. Lemme know...I am up for either method, but the back side would be consideratble safer, and we'll still end up at Nucom's for breakfast! I can harrass some of my old Ducati friends. ![Smilie](https://my350z.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)
FYI: This isn't going to be a time-trial style drive...no land speed records please. Just a nice brisk, but safe pace. So lets have fun!

Very good suggestion...too bad it took the board three days to inform me this little tidbit of info.

Well, it's 6:00am and I came to work to get some stuff done. Jason said he was going to join you guys today...... NOT... I roll up to the dealer and there's his car, looks like he took out a guard rail. Still trying to get a hold of him to see what's up. So count him out today. I got a new "demo" last night, a new Titan. So we put on an exhaust and I'll stop by this morning before you leave and say "HI".

Jeff and Jason. Thanks for showing up this morning. Really sorry to hear about the rogue rail that lept out of its brackets and savaged Jason's car. I hate it when they do that when nobody is around to be witness. Sneaky things those rails, always hanging around just where they can get closest to you.
We had a good run up the mountain and back with a little breakfast break at Newcombe. Scott had his showcar from the LA Auto Show, the blue roadster beauty, and Sharif had his black enthusiast Z with the new 19 " wheels (very very sharp) with Toyo Proxes rubber. Solomon had his silver Z, and we boiled up and down and did manage to avoid anyone launching over the cliffs.
There was some black ice and one motorcyclist took a pretty good suit shredding fall, and we saw two more guys at the top that dumped on the same spot. Nobody hurt but some banged up rides.
A good way to start the weekend. Now....back to house chores.
Thank you all gentlemen, it was nice to see you and a good drive.

Pics from today's meet. These were mostly taken while I was driving...so excuse the fuzziness and improper framing.
