Question Anyone else with a "Y" order?

Just curious. How many people out there with a "Y" order anxiously awaiting their Z? My dealer gave me an ETA of March 3, give or take a few days. Anyone else?

Mine's supposed to get here on the 30th of this month... I hope it does, cause I'm car-less right now

That's the order number given by the dealer when you special order the car from the factory. I ordered in December '03.

Okay. I've got one on order but never heard any reference to a "Y". Mine showed up in the dealers online inventory listing yesterday. From what I understand that means it's off the boat and on it's way to the dealer. He originally gave me Feb 1st as the target date for delivery so it looks like it's on schedule.

That means it's off the railroad car, and on the way to the dealer by truck.

how often are boat loads of Zs sent from Japan to US? Is the next shipment expected in March? I am planning to buy a DB Touring, and was thinking it might have to be ordered. Just wondering so I can put my deposit down to make sure I get one.

Depends on where it got dropped off the train.

I'm assuming Dallas for you if you're in Northern LA...or somewhere else in TX if you're in Southern LA

I live in Cincinnati now, and my car was taken off rail in Chicago and trucked down to Cincy.

The dealer told me when I ordered that they are railed from the port to Houston then trucked to Baton Rouge. That's a 5-6 hour drive so assuming if it's on the road this weekend, it should be there Monday AM.

What has me wondering is this -- they also told me they would give me a one week notice prior to the delivery date to get my financing done, pick out the leather I'm having installed and some other stuff. Since I haven't heard a word yet, I wondering if it's really going to be there Monday or Tuesday.

In the past, the Nissan site has shown cars listed that when I went to the dealership to see them they weren't on the lot yet. Guess I'll have to call Monday morning and find out the straight poop.

DavesZ#3, what color Z did you order, and who's going to do the leather install? I picked out the leather - black perforated from Classic Soft Trim - when I placed my Z order.

I'm getting a Daytona Blue Performance. CST is the leather of choice for Nissan and they have a local installer. I've been going back and forth with him for the past week on colors. I don't particularly like the "official" Nissan combinations from the accessories catalog. I'm probably going with charcoal with grey center inserts and silver Z emblem. Also getting the dealer to install the NISMO exhaust.

DavesZ#3,

Nice color choice! I'm also getting a Daytona Blue Z, 6 speed Enthusiast. What did you pay for the Nismo exhaust? I'm also trying to get my dealer to give me a discount on the Nismo exhaust.

When ordering the car, I was negotiating with the saleman on the exhaust as part of the car. They we're really too willing to cut me a deal so I dropped it from the order.

I decided to buy one from one of the online places and get it installed once the car arrived. I called the service dept and asked them how much they would charge to install it. I told them I was buying it from somewhere else because I wanted to make sure they would still be willing to install it.

The service manager said "hey why don't you talk to our parts manager, I'm sure he'd be willing to deal". So I called the parts manager and he told me he'd match the price that I could get online, so I'm paying $900. They will still add it to my final bill for the car so it can be financed too. It also shows up on the invoice as an "original dealer installed" option so there won't be any warranty, police or emissions hassles.
