Default Hub cap hit my Z!

So I'm driving to school and all the sudden a hub cap comes rolling in front of my car from the left side of the street right in front of my car! I was going around 40mph so I couldn't slow down in time and it exploded on my front bumper! I immediately tried to search down the car it came from but I was unsuccessful. So I pulled over and it scratched up my front bumper. I'll post pics in a bit but I'm on my phone in class pissed! Could my insurance cover the damages? What should I do?!

Deductable cost, cost to repair, having a claim , all worth it? Need answers.

depending on how much your deductible is, its probably not worth involving them and subsequently raising your rate.
If its just the paint that is scuffed, just get a clay bar and some elbow grease. If its scratched or gouged, its a plastic bumper and if you dont have experience molding plastics, i wouldnt touch it. maybe get a little body filler and touch up paint. It wont look like it did.
Theyre bumper covers, theyre meant to be bumped. On daily drivers, I consider any body panel below the window line as a wear item. not a consumable, but a wear item that needs attention every so often.

i recently had my front bumper "repaired" and repainted, only cost me $300. probably not worth dealing with insurance for.

Sorry to hear about that =/ happened to me the other day with a bucket on the highway but luckily I was in my daily driver, Toyota Echo. I'm with the general consensus, don't get the insurance involved. Post to pictures up to see if it's just a scuff or if there's paint damage. Hopefully it's just scuff and you can buff it out but if not, i'd hold off and get aftermarket or take it to a reputable paint & body shop.

Thanks for the input guys. I ended up checking out the scratches when I got home and there are a few scuffs, but no damage to the body. Hopefully some touch up paint will do the trick!

Ish happens. If it's just the surface, might be able to buff it out.

hey, at least you didnt flip your car upside down wearing slippers and sweatpants in the snow, because a suspension arm snapped at 20mph and you hit a mountain/went into a creek.
