Default Picking up an 04 Z on Sunday!

Hi everyone,

I've been lurking around the forum for about a month now. After over a month of waiting, I found the perfect Z. It's an 04 Z w/ 50,000 miles (auto). I placed a deposit on it today and filling out the paperwork on Sunday.

Is there anything I have to do at 50,000 miles?
Were there any changes or improvement over the 03?
Any recalls?

I was thinking of getting the recalls/maintenance done the first week of owning it.

Best of luck on your new Z!
I agree(almost)on the change of fluids.Oil change/filter for sure.
Unless you have records of what type oil was used,I'd play
it safe and use a semi-synthetic.No boutique oils like Royal Purple!
Flush&refill of coolant, not necessary as is brake fluid and if
tranny fluid looks OK,a waste of time&money.Unless the previous
owner/owners ran the car hard,at 50K,it should be in good shape.
I would check the belts and all the brake pads.Check the tires.
Look for wear. This may indicate any alignment problems. As a
new owner, you may be not aware that the 03-04(fixed with later 04 cars)
had front tire feathering problems due to bad alignment.More than
likely this was fixed on your car.If you see wear on the inner parts
of the front tires,it may not been fixed. You will also hear a roar sound
when braking.
Enjoy your Z!

Def check the belts. Both belts are starting to crack on my 04 (30,000 miles) and I will be changing them in a few months (trying myself with the encouragement from members here).

the "recalls" would include the TSBs, as in "Technical Service Bulletins". This site has all the TSBs, but an 04 is out of warranty and any TSB that wasn't handled by a previous owner is going to be on you to pay for unless it's a real "recall" like the gas filler tube. Your year had a recall on that and that will be fixed for free. Make sure the filler tube gets done. The motor is bullet-proof.
