Couldn't agree more. My first car was a 1993 Mercury Cougar XR7 and of course I wrecked it less than 2 years after owning it. I would never buy my kid a brand new car much less let him drive my sports car. Get him a beater like a honda civic or something.

Remove the non stock parts and sell them separately, they add nothing to the value. Many people wont even consider a modded car and any dealership is going to reduce the trade in value. Dont get the kid a new car, he will beat up or crash it. Smart not giving him the Z, too easy to get in trouble and boys will be boys.

Mods NEVER add value well unless it's turbo or s/c but most buyers including myself would rather have stock. I personally would never buy a modded car.

In my mind, turbo= very used car= not much life remaining= negative value.

I didn't buy the upgrades, I just wondered if they where worth anything. I bought the car used and now want to make some driveway space :-) And to add fuel to the fire, my daily driver is a 2004 Honda Insight Hybrid with a 3 cylinder, 1 liter engine that gets 60 MPG :-)

Buy Junior a honda civic or a ranger or s-10, ranger or s-10 preferably since they are RWD, and keep the Z. One day when he is old enought take him to the track and teach him really how to drive.

As cool as it is to buy a car with some sweet mods, I think most (if not all) would rather have the car stock and do all the mods themselves so they know everything has been done right.

change back to stock and sell it. aftermarket parts will not change value of your car.

Am I the only one who understands buying a modified car is not always a terrible thing lol A lot of people actually would prefer the work to be done already to save time and money so its not a bad idea to try to sell as is first. That being said I totally agree that alot of people including myself also like the non modifed car idea when shopping around.

Also your mods are fairly tame IMO so I wouldnt worry about that, however ,everyone who has said you would make more money parting it out and getting some stock replacements to make more money are probably right.
