Default 2004 350Z with $8,000 of Nismo and Kaminari upgrades

We'll, my son is now 16 and the wife won't let him drive the Z, so I'm going to sell it but have no idea what price to ask since it has $8000 of Nismo and Kaminari upgrades. Any ideas? It has 54,000 miles.

I'd actually say part some stuff out and sell it closer to stock.

trade your nismo lmgt4 wheels for stock 350z wheels+cash. the body panels will be tougher to find a same color Z to swap + cash with .. and unfortunately, don't really add much in terms of resale value, if any.

if you wanted to sell it as is, you could probably ask a ~2000$ premium over similarly priced stock 350z's.. and that's mainly from the wheels.

Rod, you and your son need to learn to become better negotiators when dealing with mom. One solution might be to install an UpRev style engine manager, with a couple of different engine tune maps. A performance tune for you, and for junior, something resembling a valet map with a safe and sensible top RPM limit of 3500 rpm or so.

Run a KBB or Edmunds price comparison for a 2004 and make realistic estimate on your aftermarket parts and sell accordingly

No way in hell you are going to get $8k for those parts, the market is just not there for modded Z's

Don't tell me you're going to make junior drive the Maroon Hyundai in the background...

mods wont add to the price imho. i paid premium a couple yrs ago to buy a stock z from a reputable dealership. even went to cerritos nissan and turned down their Z's. santa monica/ beverly hills nissan had my Z...
its low mileage so 14... 16 on the highish. in MY opinion.
if it were me id get my boy a badass offroad mobile with 4 or 5 seats. if he hits a tree in the rain like me at 18,, he will be ok, the tree wont. and talkin fullsize, non of that s10/ extera/explorer BS. a big *** 90-2005 truck is what is badass=5000. let him pick some wheels and big tires=1000.

for most people that body kit will detract from the value. Wheels on the other hand add to the allure.

You'll have a tougher time selling it with obvious mods. Like everyone said, part some of it out and you'll get more money back. As is, it will still end up selling for what a stock car will sell for regardless of the mods.

Personally, I would never buy a modded car, so the closer to stock you can get it, the better.

Tell your wife to **** off and give it to your son. A car is dangerous no matter how much horsepower it has. It's not like you're giving him a 1000hp corvette.

I hope above post is sarcasm.

a 16 year old needs to learn how to drive a slow car before driving a fast one.... The Z is not a corvette but the RWD can spell trouble to someone who isnt an experienced driver.

My first car was a 6 Spd rwd and I could handle it absolutely fine. Driving is driving. It's all about the way you drive, not the car.

Thanks for all the replies. It looks like KBB is $13k so I'm thinking $15k to start. The wife lost her brother in a CRX accident when he was 21 years old, so there's no negotiating on a two seater. The maroon Hyundai is my oldest daughters car, so he won't be driving that :-) Most likely he'll be getting a 2013 Subaru Impreza (that's his choice since I said no to the WRX).

Its a 2004 350Z,54k miles.
You'd get more on a resale if it were bone stock,no mods.
Any "under the hood" upgrades or,is it all appearance stuff?
You may get lucky and find a buyer that like the car&the hood(no like!).
Sell the wheels.May be get some cheap aftermarket that match your mods.
Good luck.

A 16 yr old does not need to be driving a Z.I almost lost a daughter when
she T-boned a Eclipse around a pole.The car had a lot less hp than a Z and
FWD at that.

Just out of curiosity, why the hell would you buy a 16 year old a brand new car?

+1. You have to teach him to respect a car before giving him the whole deal. Make him earn it. Everyone knows a kid's first car is a bumper car. I had to buy my first car. I never hit anything, but needless to say it was NOT a new car. It was a 1996 Camaro RS for $3100.

Yeah don't understand the new car for 16 year old thing. My 07 with the same amount of miles was 14k, so I see less than that here.

No one cares how much you spent on upgrades. If anything, they detract from the value. I know I would pay more for an unmolested car...
