I was searching for a VQ35HR Grand Touring Coupe in 6MT for about 6months-1year+.

Sorta gave up on the Grand Touring part and I managed to find a Touring with Navi 6MT @ CarMax. I saw the mileage... only 10000 for an 07 (2011 at the time).

Paid for a transfer, went to dealer checked out the car, whoopdidoo already deposited $$ for xfer so ended up just buying it.

Bought it. towed it home. Got the tags. Almost ran over my dog when bolting out of the driveway on my first drive to work.

lame huh?

Awesome ! I gave a similar story . Back in November 2011 had just sold my 1997 240sx Ka-t for 5k. A few weeks had gone by and I was still car less. Had recently just started talking to this girl I was really interested in but felt dumb to hang out all the time due to my car situation (22 years old at the time ). I was on a search for a 350 after I quit the 240 scene and finally a few months later stumbled across a great buy. 2003 350z touring from a certified Toyota dealer one owner 80xxxx miles and super clean and stock . That day me and my dad went to go check it out I was somewhat involved with this girl at the point . I was ignoring her all day coming up with excuses on why I haven't been home and was running errands all day with my father . She didn't buy it . After picking up my Z and driving back home 40 miles I showed up at her friends as they were impatiently waiting on me to leave for dinner and bam the reaction I got from her was just priceless , the look on her face and mine like " yup I got it lol . Best day ever and will never forget it .

Went to Carmax, got approved for car with a free transfer
had two cars transfered, 2007 mustang gt and 2006 nissan 350z
Both cars came in the same day, left work early to go test drive them both.
On my way to Carmax, my rear passenger side tire on my s-10 blew out, crashing me into the center divider and totalling the front of my truck (half my down payment).
Call Carmax tell them what happened, told me they would hold the cars for me.
Cops get there, Really gorgeous lady cop comes over, checks me to make sure im ok, ask me what happened, etc..
Tell her im on my way to buy a car, she drives me to the dealership before they close, and she drops me off. She sees the Z and tells me to get it over the mustang. Dealer also dropped the price to what it would be with my trade in for my truck (because of what happened and because it was my birthday)

Lady cop happened to be my current wifes aunt (had not met her yet at the time) and my favorite aunt haha

Went to an auto auction to look at a 2001 Frontier they had. I had planned on doing another air ride system like my 2k at the time. Seen the Z they had up before it, bought it instead.

Sold my 240,took that money and went straight to a local sport car dealer. Saw a black on black enthusiast 6mt, asked to test drive it, and 3 hrs later it was mine. I've had my Z for about 3 months, and everytime i get out, i start walking up my drive way, i turn around and stare at my Z for a few seconds lol

After returning my Civic back to stock, I went to look at a 370Z. After "building" it the way I wanted, I was not happy with the car payments they quoted me. So I started looking for a HR 350Z after doing research on this forum.

I ended up going to 1 local dealership and had to put a deposit so they could find me 1. Talk about total crap. So they call me and say they found a white 08 base. So I go there and the car was alright. The bumpers had marks and the previous owner smoked in it. Even after pointing these out to them they would not budge on the price. So while waiting as they didn't want to give me my deposit back (they finally gave it back after I said I would get an attorney, not for the money but the principle) one of my buddies called me and told me he saw a blue 1 being unloaded at another local Nissan.

So I drove to the other dealership and I find out that this car has 2k miles and was never registered, as the previous "owner" was a CEO at US Nissan headquarters in Tennesee, so basically I would be the first owner. I bought the car on the spot, and went to pick it up 2 days later.

I went with my father and they asked me to pull my Civic up front so they could switch the plates. While waiting my dad asked me if I would miss my Civic. I said of course, I had it for 5 years and went through alot with it. About 2 seconds later they pull the Z in front of my Civic, switch the plates, and I gotta say, I got in my Z, left, and never looked back at my Civic. What an upgrade!

Almost 4 years later, this car still puts a smile on my face everytime I get in it, just like the day I bought it. That is how I know I picked the right car!

-2 days prior to buying my Z I sold my Altima SE-R and bought a plane ticket to Yuma, AZ.
-The next day, it started snowing ***** here in Colorado (16") so my friends and I played a drinking game while watching Django (you can probably guess what word we drank to). We drank all day.
-Hungover, my roommate drove me to the airport at around 7 am.
-Took around $12k in cash on the plane, near the border of mexico, yeah I thought the TSA was gonna be a hardass about it, but they didn't care.
-Got to Yuma, literally walked across the street to the dealership to meet up with the guy (did I mention I was buying it on craigslist? Oh yeah that's pretty important).
-Didn't get murdered.
-Fell in love. Gave him the cash, he gave me the title. Drove around until I found an inn, stayed the night, marveling at the Z that's outside my window.
-Drove 16 hours back to Colorado the next 2 days. Twas a great road trip.

Ok, here's my story. I was looking at listings on the autotrader.com website. I have a copy of "The Run" on DVD
I got it at the local stealership the year the 350 was launched. I'd been drooling over that car for years. This stealership in Medina had one in the Lemans Sunset color, and in my price range. I said "screw it, I'm going to get that *****." I called the stealership and asked about the car, guy says come in tomorrow and drive it. So I drive 130 miles to check it out the next day. There it is, all washed up and waiting for me at the front door curb. I'm getting stoked. I go inside and dude isn't there yet (I'm early) so another dude says, I'll get the keys and a plate. I say "sweet". We take it for a spin up the road and back. By this time I am positively giddy. We get back to the stealership, dude takes the keys in back and comes out a few minutes later. He says, "I'm sorry to tell you, but that car is already sold." My heart sinks. He says, "we've got some other stuff to check out, if you are interested." (This is a classic, illegal, bait-and-switch tactic I later learned.) They had a G35 for $8k more and a Mazda RX8 for about $5k more. I didn't really want either of them, so I decide to leave. I go out and climb into my car and call the wife to tell her the news. Just as I'm about to hang up, dude comes walking up and says, "wait a minute, we might be able to get you that car after all. Looks like the buyer's financing fell through." So I get excited again, and go back in. Original sales dude is in now, and starts running my financing paperwork. About fifteen minutes later he comes out and tells me I got it. I nearly peed my pants. I give them the keys to my wife's old Xterra and they give me my new Z key. Later I realize that in my excitement, I had left our garage door clicker in the Xterra, and my house key on the keychain. I get home and I had to crawl in the front window of the house like a criminal. I call the dealership three times over a period of weeks and they always agree to send my my clicker and keys, but never do.

TLDR; I love my Z, and never do business with Ganley Nissan in Medina, Ohio.

Mine is a quick story.
Drove a 240Z at age 16 back in the 80's, fell in love with it. Wanted one ever since.
Got married young to a woman who hated sports cars, settled for "meh' cars.
After 22 years of marraige (no kids) I said I'm out. Bought my 350Z the next day. I will never sell it. It's a reminder to never settle in your life.

I was in the market for a new car and I loved the Z when it came back in 03. So I went to my local Nissan and told them I wanted a Z show me what you got. After test driving one I told them what I was willing to pay and what I wanted for my trade in. I was there for over 3 hours before them telling me no can't do that and the sales person started saying you’re not ready to buy this car and swearing after telling me I’m not going to buy here then. They had a 2k up charge over MSRP and tried to ******** me saying all Nissan stealerships where doing that. After going thru all that I was I'm out. I ended up emailing all Nissan stealerships in a 25 mile radius from me and they gave me everything I wanted. Best part I bought my Z on Feb 14th 05 so she was my valentine. She had 5 miles and was still covered in the plastic wrap when they deliver cars. Also I went back to that Nissan dealership that did not want to work with me and made sure the sales guy saw me and told him where I bought it and they sold it to me on what I wanted to pay.

Smile I went from A to Z!

I had an Altima coupe for 2 years and had a lot of fun with it, but it was missing a few things. I was on cars.com looking for a 350Z to save some pics and found one in Greely, it was a 08 Nogaro Red with 8000 miles. Fell in love with it the moment I saw it, it was in perfect condition. I decided that I'll go check it out in person, so 50 or so miles later I was in Greely infront of my favorite car. Test drove it and had good fun, then we started talking about price and my Altimas trade in value. 30 minutes later had the keys in my hand and was about to set off home in my dream car. This is the best dealer I've ever dealt with and I hope any of my next cars they will have. Drifted out of the dealer parking lot on accident, but flew down highway 85 all the way home.

October 2011: In my Miata track car, which I had owned for nearly 10 years, including having gone to the 2005 SCCA Runoffs, I removed the original engine in the car, and put an engine in the car that was capable of being competitive in Spec Miata, and had been in another car. I drove the car in that configuration at my home track (new Hampshire Motor Speedway) for the first time in 2011, and within 5 laps, I was 1.5 sec/lap faster than I had ever been there before in the Miata. Alas, it only took me those 5 laps to get to within a couple of tenths of a second of the fastest I would go all weekend.

Spring 2012: As a result of the prior track event, I looked at what I wanted to do with a track car, what I could do timewise with my work schedule, and what it would take financially to get there. The conclusion was that I could either spend a bunch more money to make the car competitive in SM, or sell it and get something faster and just have fun in a fast car. At my weekend job, there was a 2003 350 that was mostly built that was originally built to run in the Grand-Am Cup series, but never actually raced.

June 2012: I sold the Miata, and for the first time since 1996, I did not own a dedicated track car...for about 2 hours before I bought the 350Z.

October 2012: After getting the car into trackable condition, I ran it for the first time, at NHMS. Though I was well below the capability of the car, I was quite a bit faster than I was in the Miata, and my fastest lap was the last dry lap of the weekend. It's still not ideally where I want it to be, and I have a list of things to go to the car that is bigger than my current finances allow, but it was definitely a realization of "mission accomplished" for going faster and driving a car that I had a learning curve on.
I also ran an event at Lime Rock a few days later, was faster than I had ever been there before, and still had a lot of time left in my driving. One of my "bucket list" items is to run a lap at Lime Rock in under 1:00, and though I didn't quite get there, it's not far off.
