fairlady badge on :)
so all this badge talk inspired me to get off my lazy butt and actually put on the badge that i got for christmas.
just a lil' touch that keeps her different from the other few z's i've seen here.
sorry for the crappy pix. it's late. (yes, i did it at 12.30am.) i'll try to get some better ones this weekend.

ya know what that reminds me of? some guy i ran into told me that my z33 "isn't a real z"
wtf? hehe, i can just imagine what he would say if he saw the fairlady badge. jerk.
so do you go into a full detailed history or the short and sweet "it's the japanese z"

no i try to be real smart . i go back to well in the 60's the guy who designed the Z saw the Broadway play My Fairlady and yada yada yada (cheap Sienfeld reference ) then i go into how the U.S. Z's are always named by the engine displacement because that is more manly.
i think its funny how nobody at my nissan dealership new what a fairlady is. one guy askend me if that was something new they are doing over there!
back to your story
so why did the guy tell you it wasnt a Z

There is a name for people like that: Snob. Or better: Ignorant Snob.
Purist is another word, but some pure things are good. Like the pure feeling of driving your Z.
Some links to Fairlady nameplate history.

As can be clearly seen from the history the 350Z is the perfect next chapter in this long story.

they're super easy to put on too.
i heated the 350z badge with a hair dryer and used dental floss to remove it.
then i heated the excess goop with the hair dryer and got as much off as i could with my fingers.
then take NON-ACETONE fingernail polish remover and put it on whatever's left over. a soft terry cloth or detailer's cloth will rub all of it off.
i put a few coats of wax on then applied the fairlady z badge.
the backing that the badge comes on has a diagonal cut in the corner so that you can line it up with the edge of the tail light and the bottom edge of the trunk.
it was alot easier than i was anticipating

I got mine from www.courtesyparts.com. I think right now they are even on sale. It is definitely a conversation starter. I like having it on there. Although, unlike some of you, I left the 350Z on the left and simply put the "fairlady" on the right (did not include the "z". I also put the complete "fairlady z" on the lower right side of the dash. I get a lot of compliments on that. Looks like it was made that way, and very "retro";, i.e., takes you back to when it was common for the manufacturers to place the name of the car on the interior dash somewhere.
