Damn Thieves...
So around 1 am last night im laying in bed and my dog starts going off. I jump up and run to the door and let him out. It wasn't one of his normal bark at night barks. He's about 70 pounds pit mix. He circles around the cars and comes up with nothing. Didn't see anything so I bring him back in. Cars looked ok. My porch light did happen to be on via motion sensor so someone or something was out there. We go to bed and think nothing of it. Later today my wife calls and tells me there are pry marks all along her door/window. We have only had the car a week and already someone is trying to get in it. Thankfully they didn't get into my beater 240 cause I had a gopro in the back of that. But there is literally nothing in her car at all.
So this brings me to my question, what type of car alarms are you guys using? Whats good? Ive never really looked into them at all. Im about to be bringing my z back from the shop soon and I already was worried about crap like this happening, now it's making it worse. I'd like to get some cheap cameras to set up around the driveway.

Yeah I know, its the second time ive sent him out the door after someone messing with the cars. Last time it was in texas, but still he came up empty, that time someone was in the z when I had it parked right next to the door of my house. We heard the door slam shut, but they were already gone. It would of been pretty funny if I would of seen them, cause I was butt naked and would of gave chase, lol.

If I had a garage that would be great.. I live like 5 min from down town greenville. The neighbor hood i live in is nice, it's just when you pull onto the main road it turns to ****. We want to move but were also looking at houses to buy. It would be pointless to move everything and then a month later find a house to buy.

I have a Viper 5901. It is definitely pricey but has an LCD display on the remote that will go off when anything happens. Very good alarm, not to mention a really nice convenience.

Steps to avoid getting your car towed to the chop shop, also get the loudest alarm/ deactivator of life and ninja install it.
(only if you own your own driveway)
1. Drill about a 3-4 foot hole with a concrete drill
2. Buy some construction steel bars, and bend it into a U shape, with the legs being equal length.
3. Place U shape rod into the hole with the U loop on the outside and allow the loop to be OVER the floor. ( so you can loop a chain through it).
4. Pour concrete into the hole, while holding the U bar in place.
5. Allow ample dry time.
6. Purchase the best chain you can afford and lock.
7. When done for the day, Run the chain through the chassis of the vehicle and lock it in place.
Been there done this.

I have motion detecting cameras mounted on my dash. Just a pita to have to recharge every now and then. Alarms will deter, cameras will bust the guys so you can post their vids on youtube.
I've caught one guy letting his dog chit on my front yard and leaving it every night, and another idiot walking by and letting his dog **** on my car every morning. After posting still shots of them on my windows all have stopped and no one in the neighborhood goes anywhere near my property. Here's the sad part I live in a nice neighborhood where people don't step on each others' lawns, a couple bad apples will ruin it.

Cameras will help. Best is a gun.
Once I was at one of my buddy's house and late night we heard a noise outside and the driveway light turned on (his room is right above the garage and the window was open) and turns out these 3 guys are hovering around his pickup as if they were going to try to steal it. He quietly ran to his safe, grabbed one of his shotguns, went to the window and cocked the shotgun. They all looked up and ran for dear life.
The cocking of a shotgun in my opinion is the scariest sound ever.
Also, be careful with the dog, one of my buddy's family is being sued by a guy who tried to break into my buddy's brother's car and he let out the rotty and that guy did not get too far before the dog got him. The guy was lucky the dog wasn't fully grown yet but still is suing for damages.
