You might even want to call your local station and ask for an opinion on what to do *legally* of coarse.
When I got my tint signed off. the officer told me that the cops at that station would bust me for my tinted lights, but not anywhere else. and just said to be careful. so you never know what they could tell you hahhh

Steps I use to get out of tickets, or at least avoid points on license:

Step 1: reschedule court date last minute
Step 2: reschedule court date last minute
Step 3: go to court, request a "deferral' (glorified bribe to court to drop ticket for fine, saves them money on court time) This is not always available.
Step 4: if you get the ticket take an online drivers course to drop the points.

Katie, depends on what offence is cited on the ticket. If it’s written up as some type of improper equipment usage etc. and not a ‘so called’ moving offence (Canada speak) then it won’t cause any demerit points on your license. If so, just pay it and move on with your life. If the ticket is for anything resembling unsafe driving, etc then it will carry twice the points as a speeding ticket and you will want to avoid that.

Many traffic court judges will throw out an improperly written ticket and many will allow the officer to amend the charge. It’s Kinda a crap shoot, but worth it if it will keep your insurance rates down and your license unsoiled. Lots of ticket consultants (not lawyers) can give practical advice on this. Be sure to be demure in court and explain how being a girl and all, you didn’t know that the tire dressing isn’t supposed to be slopped on the tire tread. This of course made them slippery and prone to squealing.

As for the guys being mean to new members! I’m off traveling for 10 days, but I’ll be taking names and giving a bruising with my rolled up newspaper when I get back.

i duno about the laws in your area but if an LEO got the plate number wrong on a citation here in cali im pretty sure thats grounds for dismisal of the ticket.

This is true not just in Texas, but also in Maryland, Indiana, Florida, and probably most other of the 50 states. I would expect Canada has the same rules. It is the job of law enforcer to ensure ALL information on ticket is 100% correct. Any discrepancy allows the court and defendant to question the legitimacy of the ticket.

I would think you don't even need a lawyer. You should be able to apply for contest of the ticket online, and might be asked to show up at court. If the ticket has something wrong with it that speaks for itself and the judge will just throw the case out. Just be sure you have proof that the ticket is wrong.
