I am selling it in 3 weeks and getting a sti... i spoke to the dealer today and gave him 1000$ to hold one.. i need a car that i cna drive all year round but that is also fast.. the only thing i can think of is the STI.. i hacent test drove one yet but i hear amazing things about it.. i got smoked by one last month LOL.. anyways i wanted black with gold rims but u can only get gold rims with blue and i hate the blue.. so i will get black with silver rims.. anyone know more about the sti?

Great, but I hope you have a second set of all-season tires, as the STi comes with an Advan tire (so you're not much better off than you are now).

AWD even with those tires will be infinitely better than the Z on those crappy *** RE040s.

Someone lied to you. You can get any of the colors with either gold or silver rims. Don't let some sneaky salesman tell you otherwise. Tell them you want your black with gold rims. That's a beautiful combination!

I'm a member over at the sti forums, they have lots of info.

If I lived in snowy climates a Z wouldn't be my only car.

Have you looked at the EVO yet? I've read/heard that STI's are having syncro problems. The WRX had problems with that back in 02 as well...W/O driving either one I'd say EVO all the way....

My brother has an Evo, one of my best friends has an STi. From a roll, I'm about even with the STi (i pull him to the top of 5th from a 65 mph roll), and i walk the Evo a bit. IF you plan on modding, the Evo will destroy the STi with the same amount of money invested, and it handles MUCH better than the STi, and is more fun to drive. The STi is powerful as hell tho-- torqueyer (sp?) than the Z and a blast to drive, and gets respect everywhere it goes (believe it or not) as far as i've seen. All in all, you can't go wrong with the Evo or STi, but i'd recommend the Evo. Just be sure to follow teh break in procedures VERY tight on each car.

The STI is a much better "daily driver" than the EVO, if only because of the less aggressive steering rack and larger displacement.

The steering rack of the STi reminds me of a truck...

I don't agree about the steering rack comment, but the displacement is beautiful. Anyways, I wouldnl't want the STi for a daily driver because the ride is more harsh and loud (IDGAF what anybody says-- i've been in and driven both), andddd the STi's gearing is super tight-- you have to row through the gears like mad which could be ghey @ times (3.9-1 gear ratio).

Do what I did...move to southern Cali!

Seriously, the Evo and STi are both great cars. When I lived in NJ, I fortunately had my gf's car to drive when the weather was bad (she took the train). If I lived in Canada and could only have one car...I'd own one of those cars. I'm pretty well hooked on the whole RWD thing for the fun factor, but those are both great choices. You won't find that kind of performance anywhere else for the $30k price tag.

you are going to go from beautiful to ugly either way with the sti or evo...so just get a truck or suv instead. being fast is not always the most important thing. the z has the best of both worlds over the sti and evo....or wait for the gtr....out

why don't you get blizzaks?...i heard they work well...

muhahah i still driving my z on 19"s and kumho race tires on...of course not in the snow=)

but i'm cruising like a grandpa...or "pimp" mode. lol

FACT is...you don't want to drive to fast in this kind of weather especially when more variables come into play like SNOW. On top of that...how could you put your "baby" into a position of risk like that.=)

once again it's "pimp mode" driving...or "grandpa mode" whatever floats your boats.

That's looking like a mighty attractive option right now.

it's cheaper to just get snow tires...try it first see how it does..

you might regret if you trande in your z for either sti or evo..
