Uh, isn't Canada part of "America"? This would be the United States.

Thanks
Its not "proper english", its the "King's English" and we are rebellious colonials unlike you "Commonwealth" types from the Great White North. Its bastardized German Anglish in its origins and has no particular validity outside your frozen trundric domains, S. Africa and the "land down under", not counting Merry Olde. So there, you heathen rascals who moved in on the proper Britons(Celts) who had butchered the land's previous inhabitants to claim the Islands in a proper way. Not like you scuts who were invited to enjoy some warring maneuvers and stayed instead of going home, and invited more of your relatives to come usurp fair Britain. So there, aboot...i mean about right on.

Hey it's all in good fun, good thread though.. It's funny being so close we share so much culture but at the same time are so different. Of course we Canadians live in the shadow of you Yanks in the world, your kinda like that big bully in highschool that has everyone scared but are not so smart, and we are the peaceful smart cool guy that hangs with you that everybody likes...
those commercials are hilarious, we do make fun of "ya'all" every chance we get but it works both way "eh" and like I said all in good fun.
Shitty thing about being Canadian though is the friggin spell check in my computer keeps telling me I spell all these words wrong, when it's just American english, after this long I never remember which is which...

Of course I'm kidding, I'm just showing off my education and b.s. lines. Remember, many Brits(everyone, not just Celts) still refer to us as colonials, in a bit of mild snobbery. There's nothing malicious or mean in that, just a bit of fun you know.? See? I was just going you one better and using the King's English to put you on, not put you down.

Listen, my Major Professor in Grad school was a Social Anthropologist and Scottish. We used to hoist a few at the bar and, invariably, he would go off and shout "You bloody americans don't know anything about history!" Then, I would raise an eyebrow and he would amend his proclaimation and look at me and say"except you, of course". See, just a bit of fun gents, OK? No offense intended, but I couldn't resist using bits of your own culture against you in a riposte. I'll stop if you want me to, no harm, no foul.

Well, as we learned from Star Wars, people from Long Long Ago, in a galaxy Far Far Away speak American, unless you are a member of the dark side, in which case you speak with a British accent.

And from Star Trek we learn that in the future everyone speaks American, so I think we all know which language will previal (although they do use the metric system.....hmmmm, wonder what happened there).

Our company is actually going to start using the metric system for all our drawings. It's going to be interesting when we are expecting something an inch long and it arrives over two feet in length. Ah well, it's easier to remove metal than it is to add more...

All in good fun guys.
You will all get a little taste of Canada when Conan comes to Toronto in a couple of weeks. He will be here for a week doing the show. Should be some good shows.

We choose to not be like everyone else. That's why this country was started in the first place. When you guys get as many Zee cars as we have, then you can change the name. In the mean time, look out for our roo-bars. j/k

The last time was 93 I believe when Montreal beat out LA. Considering Edmonton dominated the 80's and Montreal the 70's I think we still remain King of the hill. When Vancouver takes the cup this year it should start a new era! Muhahahaha.

The last time a Canadian team won the cup...thats funny. Most of the players on those American teams are Canadians. Toronto got beat a couple of days ago by Carolinas Golie Weeks. Where is he from you ask...TORONTO. Bastard.
Its pretty hard for a team with a $10 million budget to beat a team with a $50 million budget. Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal are the only Canadian Teams that can ever have a shot at the cup, and that would have rto be mixed with luck of great low paid rookies having all star seasons.

Don't exclude Ottawa my friend. They had a great season last year and have an impressive 27 and 13 this year. Right up there with the leaders behind only Detroit, Colorado and Vancouver. They are tied with Toronto at the moment.
