How much do you guys think i can haggle a new Z for? im thinking since it's a sports car and all, Z dealers dont' wanna usually "deal" like they do on minivans etc.? i dunno. well if not, then im comparing if it's cheaper to get a new Z or a Used one, cuz used has higher APR and all that.....
let's say a base model is around 26,000 bucks? or an enthusiast is actually better..... let's say the enthus. is around 28k bucks? (more expensive than that?).... if it's 28, 000 what do you think i can haggle this baby for. 27? 26?
anyone know how to really DEAL with dealers? My friend just got a brand new 2004 honda accord EX v6 and his dad was doing the dealing and the price listed for 27,000.. and then after about 2 hours of dealing and putting up a front, =p my friend and his dad goes home and the DEALER actually called them back the next morning and said that they'll give it for 25,300...
so if anyone has any dealing tips and how to keep that "poker face" with the dealers... it'd be great. thanks

Put your requirements into www.carsdirect.com and that will give you a price you have to beat if you want to do it in person.
I have had the 'Nissan will never discount this vehicle' routine but it is clear from others on this Board that if you are ready to buy discounts are out there, maybe not so much on the Roadster. Seems lots of geographical variation on pricing but Nissan dealers seem to be holding a lot of stock at the moment.

You need to shop around. There are dealers that discount the Z. I ordered mine from Torrance Nissan, and the Internet Manager gave me $1000 off MSRP on an '04 Enthusiast without any haggling. Good luck!
I was able to deal on an '03 track and they had to do a trade with another dealer several hundred miles away to get what I wanted. It's really quite simple now that the Z's been out awhile and there's a base to work from. Do the homework like Boiler said. Especially easy with the internet and these forums. Have your source of financing or cash worked out beforehand or at least don't let them play the how much monthly payment do you have in mind. Be prepared to spend a couple of weeks - don't give them the idea you want the car today or tomorrow. And be prepared to work one dealer against another or another brand car against the Z. Their expertise is haggling so have some fun at the game and you'll feel good when you've worked them down. BTW they never lose. They just make less off some customers.
Have fun.
Have fun.
whatever the case is, don't be an ******* to the salesman, and he will try to work with you. When I bought the G35, I originally placed a deposit with Massapequa at MSRP and 4.99% financing. I continued to shop, and found another place that was willing to knock 1200 off MSRP (Millenium) and give me a 4.49% rate... just to cap off the deal, they gave me 1000 more on my trade-in. I called Massapequa to get my deposit back, and the guy was totally irate and rude. I don't understand what he hoped to accomplish by doing that, because he wasn't going to get my business back for two reasons, he called me a liar, and he was just totally rude about it. And I quote... "It's impossible to get that much money off on a coupe!... and that interest rate... they're LOSING money!" Either way, that dealer will never see me back in there for a new car.
one thing i forgot to mention... in Socal, it is notoriously difficult to knock much off what the dealer wants on a relatively high-demand car because their attitude is... if you don't want to pay our price... someone else will.

never get irate or angry,
dealing with the "internet manager",
start negotiations at the end of the month around the 25th,
always drive the car and act like you have never driven one act excited as if you want the car this week

First thing: Know what you're talking about. Know what MSRP on your car is. Know what invoice is. Know what the holdback is. Know what interest the dealer is paying on the car in the lot is. When you have these numbers on a piece of paper in your hand. Walk into the dealer and say, I want to make you a deal that's fair for both of us.
I paid $2,500 under MSRP for a 2004 Track.

id say as long as theres multiple dealers around you, go too the first one and throw them a pretty low number and see what they say not outreageously low but low... tell them you want to buy a Z within the next week and you will somewhere and if they dont give you the deal just walk... definetly be reeally interested and haggle it down to whqat you waant to pay, even if you rlike 500 apart dont give in, they wont throw away a sale for 500. granted i got a dealer demo with 2500 miles but i talked them down almost $5000 from the original figure they gave me.
I got my 04 enthuesist for 500.00 of MSRP from Mossy Nissan in Oceanside, Ca. There are 5 Mossy dealers in the San Diego area and you can look at there inventory online mossynissan.com. I paid 26,420.00 for my Daytona Blue, In addition if interested in an extended warrarnty plan its ZERO deductable if you take ur Z to mossy.

Edmunds had an article a while ago where they actually hired a writer to go out and get a job as a salesman at two different dealerships. One at a high volume high pressure import dealer and one at a no-haggle domestic dealer. The writer gave a lot of insight into what the salesman is trying to pull over on you and a lot of the tactics they use. It might help you to realize when the dealer is trying to scam you on something. Either way, it is worth a read. I am sure you can still find the article on the website.
I am getting ready to buy too but I am going to go through a broker. She is actually the fleet buyer for Boeing. Her claim is that she has never negotiated a price for more than $300 over invoice on any make or model.

Deal with the owner of the dealership. For his company to make the sale I am sure he would be happy to sit down w/ you.
I worked with the owner after I got the run around from his Clowns. Bottom line, I got everything I wanted at my price and the dealer had to eat his clown's misteaks. We both walked away happy.

This is what I did, and I got my base for 24.5. Go to the first dealer and haggle him till you feel like you got his best price. Get it in writing. Go to the next dealer and show him the price that you got quoted. Then get his price in writing (provided he can beat it, and he can!). Take this quote to the first dealer and tell him that you got a price lower than his. Dont let him see this new price, tell him if he beats it, you will buy it on the spot, and if not you will walk.
When I did this the first price I got was 26,400. The next dealer said that he would give it to me for 25,900. Then when I went back the first guy gave me a price of 24,500. I would have bought it for 25,800. And it killed him because he wanted to see how much he beat the price by, and I never told him.

If you know someone who works for Nissan or one of their business affiliates, see if you can score a VPP discount number off them.
I got my 2004 Touring for almost $1000 below INVOICE using VPP.

Here is a link to the Edmonds Article. It is really an eye opener as to some of the tricks dealers play.

wow thanks.. 350 black. my friend actually did that with his dad on the accord coupe ex v6 and got it for 25,300. dang but 24,500 for a base is impressive. quick question about that strategy though...
let's say i go to the first dealer and iono i deal like 27,000 for a enthus brand new. so i get that in writing and go to a 2nd dealer and ask him to beat that price. so the second dealer, let's say, give me 26,500, so i get THAT in writing. now my question is.. wen i go back to the first dealer, what would i exactly do/say? i mean if i say "oh if you can beat the 2nd dealer's price, i'll buy it on the spot, otherwise i'm going to walk.", then wouldn't he say, "let me see the quote in writing"? otherwise how will he know im not BSing anyprice so i can get his price lower?
wouldn't i have to at least like prove to him that i actually went to the second dealer and i actually GOT a lower price?
oh one more question.
okay so after i get that settled, let's say he goes "okay i'll beat that price". so now what? do i give him a price lower than the 2nd dealer's price? or make him GUESS until he gets lower? again, how will the dealer know that i'm BSing the price that the 2nd dealer gave me and that im not being greedy and making him go lower?
thanks.
