New info on the new FairladyZ
I just received from a good contact in Tokyo a copy of a large Nissan catalog regarding the new Fairlady Z.
This information has not been released yet. Summary of vehicle stats, packages, and options is as follows:
HP: 280 (no surprise here – still sticking to Japanese regulations …will have to wait for the real performance numbers after testing in the US)
Torque: N.m(kgm)/rpm: 262 (37.0)/4800 (translation needed here for lbs-ft)
Vehicle weight: for 6 speed (add 22 lbs for auto)
Base model: 3153 lbs
Touring: 3197 (close since packaging might be a little different)
Track (without the Ray’s): 3175 (close since the Japan packaging differs from the US)
6 speed gear ratios
1….3.794
2….2.324
3….1.624
4….1.271
5….1.000
6….0.794
Drag Cd: 0.30 (0.29 with front/rear spoilers)
Tires: Bridgestone Potenza RE40 (same type as used on the Skyline GT-R 34, but probably not Z rated).
Shift up indicator… there is a light on the tach for shift up based on individual setting on the trip computer (one of the three small dash-mounted meters).
Trip computer includes following functions:
1/ outside temperature
2/ miles/gallon
3/ average speed
4/ driving time

THANKS so much for the info!!!
i wish we get that here......since i have lots of MDs. maybe(i hope) i can buy one in the future

Of course! We don't get all the options again. We always get the diluted version of everything here in the States. Check a Japanese car magazine, and u will see what I'm talking about. For example.. Look at all the great radios with the huge animated displays. We get about 5 of those to choose from here. The trend carries on beyond cars. I guess it's our level of practicality combined with a lower standard of living that causes this. Sorry, I had to vent.

Mmmmm... titanium exhaust and carbon front grill...
drool.
btw, note that in Japan there's a self-imposed limit of 280hp by the major can manufacturers, but some of the cars still go over that when they come here. The NSX is a good example, lists at 280 in Japan, but here it's 290.

the shift indicator sounds interesting. If i understand this correctly, it only lights up 1 light when to shift or does it have a multiple light bar indicator?
That would be a kinda neat idea with lets say 4 bars to light up.
Then i could pretend to be M. Schumacher but with the Ferrari

dvlad...
On the picture shown in the catalog... there is only 1 light located below the center of the tach dial. The copy of the catalog is only black and white... and not that clear.
