Default Phone GPS Users?

Do any of you guys use your phone as a GPS while in your car? I understand that many people have a GPS installed in their car (I have one as well), but the touch screen on mine is clunky feeling, and the system doesn't have the extra bells and whistles that a 3rd party app has on a phone.

If any of you do use your phone, how do you have your phone set up? As in where is it positioned, any extra things you use to attach it to the windshield, etc.

I have the cubby available to house things (my nav system is built into stereo), in case any of you have MacGyver'd ingenius things.

I'm a man. I don't need to be told directions.

Pure instinct and sun location (stars at night) are all I use to navigate.

I've been doing it wrong all these years. I submit.

Clearly what I'm looking for isn't a big enough issue. Oh well lol

Yeah I’ve sat and suffered in silence with guys like that. The odd time I’ve been quick witted enough to save a map to my phone before we got hopelessly out of cell coverage.

^^^ Your fault for being silent, my ball&chain can't even tell which way is north let alone teach me directions.

OP, read through this: https://my350z.com/forum/audio-video...-tutorial.html

I'm in the same boat as Stuart my iPhone stays in my cupholder with either Google Maps or Waze if I need directions with some robotic voice yelling at me.

My only problem is that my cupholder is behind me at my elbow, and my passengers cupholder is....well....at the knees of my passengers.

Do the HR's put their cupholders where your actual hand is?! As of now, I have to be a contortionist whenever I want a drink.

Also, I hate robotic voices. I'd rather drive around with a mini map in the corner of my eyes, a la Need For Speed style.

^^^ If you'd read through the thread I provided in my last post... you would've seen this:

The company sells normal smart phone adjustable mounts sell like you used but they also have this great (again, more expensive) solution: http://www.proclipusa.com/mobile-dev...nt-710305.cmsv

Again... If you're too lazy to click/read... Here is a picture of the mount:

Seems like it's what you're looking for short of a high-quality HUD projection of navigation on your windshield...

I'm confused. I just asked where your cupholder was, cause people saying they put their phone in the cupholder for stuff is a bit odd for gps (at least it seems strange for me, because of the location of the cupholder).

I never said I didn't find what I was looking for, nor complained that I didn't find an answer. I guess I should've said "Thanks" lol

Seriously? My dad used to say it 20-odd years ago whenever someone would pull out a map.
