Second Fuel Tank?
But anyway, about the race, we figure because they can't fly after dark and they would have to stop for fuel 4 or 5 times, it would be really close. I'll be dead tired but it will be close.
Run it in the spare tire well, plumb it into the main tank using a low pressure facet fuel pump that you would have to manually turn on. A fitting can easily be drilled into the top of the fuel tank sending unit on the pass side.
A separate fuel tank with separate fuel system would be a lot more expensive. The OEM FPR is part of the fuel pump assembly, if you bypassed it you would need it own FPR, and checkvalve system.

Sounds like a dreamer thread if you ask me.
OP there will be hundreds of gas stations on the way there, why not spend 5 minutes pulling over and filling up? Ive drove from TX to CA 7 times (1400 miles) and never had an issue finding a gas station before hitting half a tank.

I would love to participate in this rat race. I'll be coming from Connecticut. We should throw some money in for the winner as with the Grandmother and sister as a 2nd and 3rd place prize. I could care less about about fuel. Plenty of gas stations around. A radar detector and police scanner would be on my shopping list instead of a second fuel tank. Not that anyone will be breaking the law or anything like that.
I have a radar detector, but I would love a new Valentine 1, Jammer, not on my list really, but they are pretty cool. I would like to get an infrared camera and mount it in the grill with the display where the nav would go. I read the story about the guy in the bmw m5 that tried it and had his car all decked out. i think it was from Wired.
The reason for the two tanks would be 1: reduce time filling up obviously,
2: Idk if its just me but when I drive long distances and i have to stop for fuel it makes me more tired.
3: dual tanks with a pee bag strapped to my leg i would maybe have to stop two or three times.
4: If i get in a pursuit i know i can out last the man.... not really but it wouldnt hurt

It might sound fun, but if you're driving by yourself or even with a good friend, it will be boring as sh*t. A few years ago I drove from California to Georgia with my brother-in-law in my grandfather's caddie and you couldn't pay me to do that trip again. We even stopped in Vegas for a night.

That's why you spice things up by placing bets to see who can reach to hotel checkpoints or rest stops along the way. The winner at each stop gets they're hotel paid for the night and the losers sleep in they're cars. First person to win the overall trip gets the cash, respect and the grandmother. You can't go wrong with that.
